I agree with Gerrard.

That said, we heard all this when Joe Cole was the same age. And Glenn Hoddle.

Gerrard didn't get a lot of help around him playing for England so should know. Owen was good for a few years, then shit. Rooney and Beckham have failed in big games. Lampard has scored some penalties and goals against weak nations when 2-0 up.

IF Wilshire has Hart and some others develop too, he could be the linchpin of a good team.......... or he could get crocked for 18 months again in about a second

EDIT: To be fair Ashley Cole whilst a numpty, has been exceptional too

Man City reserves. Went for the money.

Speaking of which? Remember Michael Johnson?

Hopefully without the pointless long wafty passes towards [insert England striker here] that drift harmlessly out of the team's possession.

Rather churlish considering his career.

Oh wait, he plays for Liverpool; you couldn't help yourself

I get the impression he thrives on the responsibility. He's an absolute joy to watch. As were the U21s last night. I think our future is quite bright if the likes of Adam Smith, Tom Ince and the others show that sort of confidence and ability consistently.

I agree. My worry is that although he thrives on responsibility now, the prospect of carrying Arsenal on his shoulders for the next ten years is an intimidating one for any player!

Those diagonals that have been fantastic again tonight, as drooled over by the commentary team and Wembley crowd.

The brilliant Gerrard praising the classy Wilshire.
