Not really mate.

We had a shocking start to the season- 4pts from 6 games. We sold our top striker- and managed to convince LOLeicster that Mills was worth £5m! Never let it be said that Nicky Hammond is not the smartest man in football.

We then started playing a bit. The stats are stunning. We have gained 40 pts from a possible 45. Our "run" started in October- had it started in August we would be looking at ending the season beating the points record.

Couple of decent cup runs as well- QF's are now commonplace.

Play-offs twice in 3 years.

An amazing acadamy producing some fantastic young players.

Oh, and new owners who have promised a brighter future with more investment, but the same ethos. And we do it by paying our bills, having an affordable wage structure. Great and supportive owners- investment steady growth...

Still not had a player sent off this season.

You do know about the record- 106 points in a season. That was quite an exciting season. 33 games unbeaten. With a central defence that picked up only 6 yellows between them. And a strike force that somehow managed 99 goals. We finished 25 points above 3rd place.


Supporting Reading is frequently frustrating, disappointing, and a bit rubbish...but not boring.

They're just a crap club to support though. Bit of a weird club. When I think of football Reading are one of the last teams I think of. You've been very lucky this year as well. Unless you buy big you're coming straight back down. Anyway good luck and I hope you lose every game you cheating fucks!

Facts are not correct there either, friend.

Worst ever season for RFC was 1971/72 when we finished 16th in old 4th Division. Second/third worst ever were two 8th place finishes in 4th division. The only other five finishes in bottom tier in our entire history have been: 7th, 6th, 7th, 3rd, 1st and 3rd. Hardly a bottom tier club. And since the re-structuring we've never been in 'League Two'.

So 'still' is proved to be totally incorrect!!

Bottom 2 Divisions. Not bottom division. Or is that incorrect in your eyes? The fact is that without Madjeski it is very unlikely you would be outside the bottom 2 divisions for any more than the odd season in old Div 2 as your history proves. Just like ours.

If you care to look at what I'm saying I am actually sticking up for your club-still, carry on.

Lot of Albion fans talking claptrap on here about Reading. Sure they haven`t always had a nice ground with decent attendances but they have grown over the years and spent a fair few years in the top flight. They look to have been a well run club that have invested a lot into attracting young support. That makes them a noddy club does it ?
Times change....... thats what we`ve been saying isn`t it ?

good post. hugely hypocritical for us to refer to reading fans as plastic fans (what a duff term that is) if this is based on the fact that they moved into a new stadium which hugely increased their attendances.

This. Quite cringy to read some of the comments here. We're following a very similar path to them, and even if we are historically bigger or whatever guff people want to say, we'll still face similar comments from oppo fans as the ones some are dishing out here to Reading.

I have no issues with reading. They have done fantastically to grow as they have done over the last 15 years with a good manager in place now.

Scrappy football from us. Brighton played some good quick passing football with poor finishing thankfully. I think we mugged them a bit tbh.

Nice ground, good sound from the triple tiered stand when they could be bothered to make a noise.

Cheerleaders were quite fit. But my favourite was the fat one.

Jesus Christ man I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THE RAKE OF THE STANDS. All I said was it kept cropping up from visiting fans and one or two people had mentioned on here that it was a shame the stands behind the goal were not steeper. Just to confirm, I have no problem with the rake of the stand and never have had.

I didn't even know that stands had rakes until today. Aren't they mean to be old English gambling boozing and womanising types? Would make a great username: The Rake of the West Stand - with appropriate avatar.

Elm Park had a very steep rake which made viewing good but it was very dangerous when somebody at the back pushed.

Fortunes changed in 1995 which was before Majdeski and we still had the Goldstone (just about). We still have not caught back up. Probably nearly or even ahead at the end of this season home attendance-wise:

In case you hadn't read it, a few posters mentioned that the stands were not steep enough for their liking. I couldn't give a toss about reading fans or any other but I was just curious if the 'rake' of the stands or the angle of the seats could be changed without changing the stadiums 'shell
Anyway I couldn't give a shit about that either now it was one of those thinking aloud moments! As you were...

You mean two years in the top light I agree it's not a crime to grow as a club and they,ve done well.Our history and attendances are far superior and with our ground expanding I don't ever see them competing with us.Reading usually start getting crowds of 16k+ for the first 5/6 months of the season and then upto 24k if in the promotion race,very fickle support,they do get big away followings coming to the mad like 4k's and 3k's which helps.My mate just brought a season ticket for £380 which is awesome as they will be in the prem,our cheapest in the championship is more than that.
