The Vidiprinter truly was the most BRUTAL way to learn a result.
I can remember standing with my dad and sister as a nipper in George Street in front of Radio Rentals with a small crowd, watching whatever those letters and numbers would painstakingly blurp out after we'd been away at some grim northern griefhole. The 2 or 3 seconds ELATION if the home team was 0 (chance of a win!!), and the subsequent slight deflation if ours was also 0. "Ahh well, would've taken that" my dad would say, as we minced into Wimpeys for a Knickerbocker Glory.
