Depends on the gig really, not always. Sometimes some bands are phenomenal live and you want to capture it and rewatch it again, and again, and again.

I saw Godspeed You! Black Emperor and some of those passages I watch frequently, and will continue too. Conversely, I saw La Femme this week and there was nothing I found noteworthy of recording.

I try to be conscious of others around me and never take more than a 10 second video. It annoys some people for sure, but for the price of gigs these days, I figure every is entitled to enjoy it however they want.

Apparat cut a Brighton gig short due to the constant background chat.

Can you imagine if phones had been a things in the 80s, 90s, 2000s. I think the clubbing and rave scene would have been completely different for the worse. No one would have been wanting to be filmed in a random club field or warehouse as the suns coming up. Christ if photos had gotten shared all over social media it would have been really bad!!
It's sad when I watch organiser recorded videos from hardcore events in Holland and all you see is people filming and nobody dancing, I am so glad that I grew up raving in the 90's before social media ruined the scene.
And yeah I agree, nobody needs a photo of them on social media gurning at 7am as they leave a warehouse drenched in sweat, that's got P45 written all over it!

Not for me Jeff. But I’m not a big photographer in any situation - probably on account of being an ugly t**t who never wanted to have photos of himself.

I find turning the camera the other ways helps with this. 🤣
