About that first video, if the car park only holds 300 cars surely 800 cars a day is a massive over estimation of the amount of traffic.

Even if that is correct, I wonder how many people live near a road carrying that amout of traffic, quite alot I'd guess. They're making out as if it's the end of the world when really disruption will be minimal by most people's standards

Can't watch the video (they treat us like shit at work), so I don't know the exact claim, but in cases like this, they often mean '800 car movements...', meaning 400 in, 400 out - or if there is a mini-bus or bus to go in there, that's another four journeys etc. Whatever, it seems a ridiculously excessive claim.

Had an email at work from Buckingham Group inviting us to tender for the new BHA training facility. A little ahead of themselves or is that normal procedure?

That's quite normal. We don't just tender for "live" jobs, we tender for jobs that teh Main Contractor is tendering for. That's how they get to build up there tender document, rather than basing their numbers on how much you agreed to work for them the last time. Labour rates, and especially material rates change all the time, so the main contractor will want project specific prices from everyone as of now.

I'd say about 60% of the tender requests we have in are for Main Contractors who have yet to win the job.

Best comment: "the area will be flattened" - it is flat already!

That comment made me chuckle as well.

whilst I of course understand the locals concerns, I take it that they are aware that if the Albion don't get planning permission, then the land will still undoubtedly be developed, probably for new houses etc. My In Laws live in North Lancing ( they do not follow the albion) they are excited by the plans and only see positives for the local community eg: jobs and public use of one of the pitches. I fear that some ( not all ) of the opposition will be political and not based on any genuine concerns

Exactly. Where is this 800 figure from? Has Brighton or an independent body estimated those figures? Or have they been plucked from someone's backside.

It's the clubs estimates apparently submitted with the planning application.

I would assume that the easiest way to gauge the amount of cars passing through would be to sit outside another clubs training facility and count the cars going in and out!

1. Albion contractors destroyed fences - lies, it was Adur

2. In use 24 hours a day - who will be coming and going 24hours a day? - emotive nonsense

3. Asbestos, if there was such concern and interest in this land and its 'health', why didn't they get it removed years before? - never mind, its done for them now.

4. General sweeping waves of the hand, "cars will be parked all over there, here, everywhere, a bit of embellishment there.

5. Sewerage- do they really think that the Albion, Adur or the general planning powers would sanction a fume gushing process on the doorstep of those houses, he obviously hasn't looked at the Albions record re 'green' concerns, uninformed rhetoric designed to inflame..... clutching at straws.

I think the first video is absolutely brilliant!

After watching that I think most people that are undecided will be absolutely pro having it built. What a great advert for putting something positive onto what is total wasteland. Cheers to whoever made it.

As other posters have said, the main point to be addressed is the route of the access road, or its proximity to the local houses. Easy to overcome.

Now I'm not getting ahead of myself and there is lots of engagement to do with the local community etc. but I can't see how this can not be turned into a huge positive for the area.

I used to work close to Palarse's training ground in Beckenham, to be honest I did not know it was even there for months - and then only when I was told. Ok, so it was only Palarse, but they were in the First Division (Now Premiership) at the time.

A native Saxonian graveyard. One that even to this day magically steals the souls of local children

My wife spent a few years living on Mash Barn as a kid. That would explain things.

And think of all of them caravans going in and out, these residents should count themselves lucky!

They have got absolutely zero, zilch to moan about. If Peacehaven has the sewage treatment works, which is now hardly noticeable because of the grass roof, and Newhaven has the incinerator this is honestly nothing and I mean nothing in comparison. The training ground facility will transform that piece of land and I also think it will add value to their housing.

How much sewage and gas does he think that a bunch of people playing football are going to produce? From his tone, you'd think it would be enough to run an post apocalyptic village like in Mad Max 3.

What with all that parking and access to football pitches, I may even move there myself!

It looks the perfect location to me. I understand their concerns - but I am sure the Club will do their best to minimise impact. There is a lot of scare mongering in there as well.

Anyway thanks to the person who shot the videos for confirming the Club have made a good choice, as supported by the District and Parish Councils. Thank-you.

If I were a resident of MB then of course I would prefer to live next door to a nice open space of scrub land with pleasant views, place for kids to play, walking the dog etc as opposed to any development. However if the land is going to be built upon then I personally would prefer a sports complex (albeit mostly private) rather than a Supermarket or housing.

I think the 24 hour car park lighting would be annoying and the sewage/services pumping station could be positioned further away from residential area. Otherwise it seems like a good planning application.

Seriously, a great first video, fully supporting the planning application by the Albion! :) Thank you whoever you are...

Just the concern re the sewage to address for me... the rest of the case against is non-existent IMHO...
