I know there was betamax and VHS but I am almost certain there was another format around 1981.

It was used in the schools at the time and my dad managed to aquire one around 1982.

What was this format called ?

Thanks

You could record on both sides of the tapes with V2000, like audio cassettes.

I think we're long overdue a "defunct home electronics formats" thread.

They would have been early 80's. I remember them coming into stock when I worked at Curry's in Haywards Heath on saturdays.

Isn't Betamax still used by telly pros because the picture quality's so much better? At least it was a while back.

Good looking machine, but not a patch on the original Ferguson VideoStar, with the big sticky outy buttons

I'm sure somebody can locate a pic of one??

Not the same thing that they had back in the early '80s, but yes, Betamax makes a lot of pro TV kit and tapes.
OK, cheers - you may have answered this before but I'm stupid and missed it - what about Bill Turnbull? Is he really the World's Nicest Man Other Than BoF? He seems like a very cool fucker indeed.
