It's a form of expression we had to use for Tik Tok :bla::bla::bla::bla:
They can't even say sorry properly with trying to deflect some of the blame.

shameful attempt at an apology.
If he took offence, he was in the wrong it wasn't what we meant.

We're not racist, we can prove it as we didn't get enough money for him in the summer. (On a par with "I have plenty of black friends.")

What do you think @Sepulveda ?
Sorry I didn't check in on the board the last few days. You're right about it not having a historically racist meaning in Italy (besides being an exotic fruit), and about the term "cocco" (coconut) being like "dear/darling/pet" (e.g. "mum's cocco", "the teacher's cocco", or even just older ladies calling you "cocco/a".)

None of that comes into play here though; they simply used it because it was an international TikTok trend, not because of some intentional racist implications nor because they wanted to call him "dear". The relationship between his agent and the club is strained and they're probably negotiating, plus the club's owner is under investigation for making fraudolent capital gains in order to sign him. Basically the same thing that saw us getting 10 points deducted in the league last year and banned from Europe for a season. So all in all quite a tense environment.
