Did Oscar play with Vicente at Valencia?
Looking at the true font of all knowledge (Wikipedia, yeah I know...) Oscar left the same summer that Vicente joined.
Will it be a second case of ships passing in the night?
Did Oscar play with Vicente at Valencia?
how soon after Vicente was released did he mention that he'd come back? I get the feeling he thought he'd get a few offers but nothing particularly thrilled him so he tried to back track. Whatever happened between him and Gus, who knows but its not the first time a player has fallen out with a boss because they weren't put on a pedestal, Eg Tevez refusing to come on the pitch. At the end of the day the manager has to be in charge, and if you show weakness then it will be exploited. Does Vicente have previous, i thought i read somewhere (probably on here so factual) that he had a go someone at Valencia when he left there
On the rare occasions that Vicente did play towards the end of last season he really wasn't very good, and what is more his presence on the field seemed to upset our normal pattern of play to the detrement of the team. The instructions appeared to be "give the ball to Vicente" on every possible occasion.
Unless we saw a very different Vicente, I personally would not want him back.
It was the club that released Vicente, not Gus. He refused to handle the retained list. Why would the club offer him a contract now?
He's been a pretty loyal player. Played for his home town club of Levante from 16yrs old to 19, then signed for Valencia and stayed there 11 seasons, playing under 4 different managers in that period. The only thing he said I think was in 2007 when he said he felt let down by the medical staff, that things had been said to the press about his psychological state of mind, for which he was disciplined, however he still stayed on another 4 seasons. He left Valencia as a club legend.
