I defy anyone not to be absolutely buzzing for his comeback, having watched that. There is no doubt he'll improve the team, whether from the bench or starting. Frankly we have an embarassment of riches with Lopez, Orlandi, Dobbie, Buckley, LuaLua, Vicente, Dicker, Barnes, all capable of playing the roaming role behind CMS/Hoskins. I will never forget the Derby or Portsmouth games last season, he is truly so far ahead of anyone else in this league it's staggering. When he's fit we have no right to have him in our squad, and I for one will enjoy watching him until the time comes when he walks away, probably this summer. Regardless, he's worth the entry fee alone, an absolute delight to watch.

EVERY time I watch that Derby run and shot I will the ball to go in. It never does. It's devastating. Deserved to be a goal.

If he trained all last week with the development squad, that is a good sign.

Vicente reminds me of a girl I once fancied many years ago, her name was Claudia and I was infatuated with her, I stood no chance though as she was going out with Colin who was a few years older and cruised around in a bright red 3 litre Capri that seemed to have a surfboard permanently strapped to the roofrack. I bumped into Claudia one night at a party and she sidled up to me seductively, the bitch knew I was in love with her and was toying with me, Colin was in the kitchen furiously trying to gain access to a large metal drum of Watney's party 7 so I chanced my arm and got a bit closer to her. I extinguished the Peter Stuyvesant cigarette I was smoking and gave her a look that simply said, "f*** Colin, he's a nonce and I'm halfway through my O levels and am a much better prospect", I'm not sure she deciphered the look but nonetheless she drew closer and her hip connected softly with my groin area, there was violent flash of static as her crushed nylon dress reacted with my burgundy two-tone stay pressed trousers and the bolt of electricity went straight through my knackers! I was almost there and in anticipation leaned forward a little as I focused on her heavily made up face and bright red lips, this was it I thought, I'm f***ing in here. Alas out of the corner of my eye I saw Colin standing there in the kitchen doorway, big droopy moustache and mullet with bleached highlights, white towelling socks brazenly on show above tassled black casual shoes -what a wanker! I screwed my face up and looked him right in the eye, I'm going to tell him what a twat he is I thought, instead I opened my mouth and said, "Alright mate, how's the Capri?". I didn't bother to listen to the reply, I was defeated and with shoulder's slumped walked back to my mum's. Like I say, its easy to see how I make the link to Vicente isn't it?

So she turned you down for Paul Calf?

What some people don't understand is that when Vicente is playing, it's not just how good he is, it's how much more confident the players around him are in their own ability. When Vicente is on the pitch it gives the whole team a huge lift and a lot more belief, The sooner he's back the better.

Don't be daft. We don't want him playing with his back to goal or chasing through-balls, thats not his game at all.

Exhibit A: Reading (anonymous)
Exhibit B: Swindon (disaster)

We want Vicente on the ball as much as possible, pulling the strings. That means a free role coming in off the left, or playing central just off the striker. Vicente up front is like putting a fish up a tree. You can do it, but whats the point ?

Our results last season during the run-in, when Vicente was playing in the team regularly, would not really bear that theory out. However, we have strengthened since last year so hopefully this time round if he gets back into the side we'll see more of a return overall.

Exhibit C: Chelsea 3-1
Exhibit D: we were beating reading 1-0, and drew (game went dire when he went off)

He doesn't sit upfront roams about with the either two players each side of him.

His best performances for us have been from midfield or from wide coming in. NOT when playing up front.
I think that is indisputable FACT.

What I love about Vicente is that when he gets posession he runs forward while retaining possession and never looking like being dispossessed. That acts as a catalyst for the other players to support/augment the attack, a catalyst we have been lacking at times.

Becuase of this, he's capable of uniting both the "get it forward FFS" and the "I love tiki-taka" Albion fans...

So why were results WORSE when Vicente deigned to play late last season?

100% agree... and when he plays in his correct position, he is fantastic... the problem is, he almost never plays...
