Pork pie land.
From the Argus article about Dobbie:

" Poyet is still after a target man once the loan transfer window opens but seized the chance to snap up the Scottish striker for three years, with doubts persisting over the fitness of Spanish playmaker Vicente .

We have been waiting for Vicente,” Poyet said. “He could be training with us but, when you don’t know what is going to happen, you try to make sure you have got someone who is going to help us open up defences and he (Dobbie) does that. "

Does anybody know what is the (real) problem now?

Is he actually in the UK, or back in Spain with "family problems"?

Sorry but I interpret that as "we have been waiting for Vicente to get fit" not "get on the plane back to Gatwick"! And "he could be training with us but you don't know what is going to happen' as "he is training with us but something in his highly complex body could go 'ping' again at any moment".

I know it's probably a coincidence but we have played very well in the last two games with Vicente no where to be seen. We have way more strength in midfield now too so him not being around is having less and less impact.

If he really wants to go home maybe it's time to say 'Adios' and thanks for the memories.

Well he is contracted to us and wasnt sold in the transfer window. So it must be Gus's way of saying that they have been waiting for Vicente to get fit and when he does train he is injury prone so could miss out.

Thats my take on it anyway.

He was spotted by a Palace fan in Coulsdon yesterday:

Putting this quote from Gus together with Andy Naylor's information that the club are "losing patience" with Vicente, I would not be surprised if we got rid. Very disappointing as I was looking forward to seeing more of him this season, but if the club are signing players to compensate for his absence, and we are winning games without him, and with style, then I can't see this ending joyously. I'll be pleasantly surprised if he plays for us again.

He's got a fitness issue and is prone to injury. No more complicated than that. I'm sure he'll be back by Birmingham, if not before.

Let's not forget that the reason we have managed to lure more classy Spaniards is BECAUSE of Vicente...probably.

Anyway Pork Pie I see you have decided to give slagging off CMS a rest, I hope that you are not about to start on Vicente now????

Vicente I fear may prove to be the best player almost to have played a pivotal role for the Albion. In the games he has played he has showed class and vision beyond any other player on the pitch however he seems to be afflicted by a suscession of mystery and hard to diagnose/treat injuries. He is certainly high maintenance but I don't think he is so essential to us now following some great transfer business by the Albion. I can't help but think that his continued presence and inability to get fit and contribute must raise a few eyebrows in the dressing room at the very least. All in all and looking at our squad now I don't think Vicente will play much of a part and if I'm honest I would take a fully fit and honest pro such as Barnes in the side over a is he fit/ isnt he Vicente who seems to be made of glass.

I see what you mean here and cannot ignore the fact that stats show we sort of do better without him. But from all the comments about him being one of the best footballers to wear the shirt, how can we leave him out if fit?

Didnt somebody say they spoke to him in Tesco Hove over the weekend.

Yes that was me... he was wandering around with a couple of mates on Friday.

After the activity that followed that evening I did wonder if it was maybe Lopez with him, but can't remember either of them being that ugly to be honest.

Although I only saw him wander in, had a very brief conversation with him to ask for a photo and then bumped into him a few more times in the aisles.. his body language suggested to me that he is quite down at the moment. A little like Ronaldo the other night... he is clearly not happy about something and I got the impression that maybe his mates have come over to spend some time with him to cheer him up a bit. .. they walked around choosing food together... for the record, they bought ingredients to make fajitas. ;-)

Do you think he is over here on his own at the moment then ? ie no family with him ? . Could explain gus quotes. May have let him go back to Spain over the international period ?.. Just a hunch and not trying to fan flames here !

I saw him in Sainsburys, West Hove, yesterday evening, around 7.00. He was with two Spanish mates, and then drove off in a white BMW 4x4 with Spanish plates.
