Even allowing for the disappointment of his limited appearances to date, can you think of another player whose arrival was celebrated so wildly, whose contribution was so hugely anticipated, who has then gone on to prove that all the hype was worthwhile? I'd suggest that Zamora's performances outshone even our expectations of him, but his arrival was not greeted with quite the frenzy that this man's was - I didn't do a lick of work that day, Northstandchat and the famous airport chase were far, far too gripping.

Then he comes on and he's every bit as classy as you'd hope. The best player I've ever seen in an Albion shirt, and no, I'm not exaggerating. How many times have we had Valencia fans on here, or any top-flight club's fans for that matter, telling us we've signed a legend? If he stays fit and involved for the rest of the season, we've got every chance of going up. Every chance. I genuinely think he's that good.
