Pundits seemed to think that she did a bit better than expected.
My own very amateurish opinion is that she came across as too "folksy". Failed to answer at least three questions, and had very few facts and fires at hand. Biden seemed a formidable debater. Cool calm and collected while shooting down many of her points. He is far and awat better VP material than Governor Palin.
I think McCain must have been crazy.

Did she actually answer any of the questions? The moderating of the 'debate' was very poor in my opinion. She should have been making sure they answered the question even if they then veered off to their prescripted soundbytes.

I would have LOVED to see Palin answer when asked whether Biden had understood her correctly when she had implied that gay couples should have the same civil rights as heterosexual couples. It was a question she couldn't afford to answer so she just completely changed the subject. She should have been MADE to answer.

i listened on the radio. palin makes my teeth squeak.

saying that "mrs biden is getting her reward in heaven" was klassy. to presume to say anything about that?

why are so many people unable to pronounce nuclear correctly?

energy! maverick! hockey mum! aw shucks! you betya!

the bit about same sex marriage, was she actually listening to biden's response? sheesh.

that said the caribou barbie did better than i thought she would, her snark at biden was met by him kicking her hiney with facts though.

I look forward ro watching this later. You can't help but think the best thing for the planet was if she could have f***ed up royally - but from reports at least Biden didn't do anything stupid like be patronising. To think she could be president - what level of desperation had McCain reached ?

I thought Biden did very well to stop himself from completely going to town and ripping her to shreds on most of her policies and opinions. He's by far the superior debator and orator (which was a given anyway) and i think his performance enabled her to keep some semblence of dignity by not looking totally clueless about most of the issues. If he had tore into her it might've worked against him, so he walked a very delicate line and came off very well in my opinion.

It did seem that the Moderator did heed the Republicans pleading to go easy on her as she wasn't nailed down on many of the issues, especially the same sex couple rights.

She does grate on you though, her response to a withdrawal timeline from Iraq was cringeworthy.

biden had actually been trained not to bully her by his own team in the fear of losing votes especially from women. still it would have been fantastic to watch. instead i thought he did very well to keep his cool and actually back up his points with hard-hitting facts and a few times a stern look to the camera.

the fact this election isn't going to be a landslide is just baffling.

the fact this election isn't going to be a landslide is just baffling.

Over the years there have been many baffling US elections: Ronald RayGun, Bush x 2, Arnie as Governor. Now we have this mad woman potentially just a heartbeat away from becoming President-and the Americans are dumb enough to make sure that happens too.
