Be prepared to stand on London Midland. I travelled to Birmingham away and stood for 90% of the journey.
As long as you get there 15-30 minutes before the departure time, you can be the first on the train and get a seat.

Seems strange that the trains take well over double the time it takes from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston (just over two hours) and it's the same distance.
Anyone know very roughly how this compares to Seagulls Travel? I mean it'll probably be about another £15 to get from Brighton to London to take advantage of the offer, so come in at £30. Never used the club travel before as my Dad has driven us both to away games, but he doesn't fancy that all the way to Liverpool. Is it a good experience going on the coaches?

Edit: Ah! Because they're cheap trains tickets I suppose.
The Great Escape
Last train back to London is 19:48 on a saturday.
Can get vouchers for both the saturday and sunday as you dont have to pay until the day.
£15 return from London to Liverpool takes about 3 and a half hours, very good deal, will sell out fast now though
All of you who use this though get there early as there is bound to be a big queue at the ticket office on the day.
But 18,000 trying to get 5,000 tickets. Any ideas on allocations.
Its not though, is it? If we had an unlimited allocation, would we take 18,000 to an away game in Liverpool? Of course we wouldn't. There are probably about 7000 / 8000 that would like to go, and of those probably about 5000 / 6000 will actually be organised enough to sort out a ticket.
What happens if it`s a late kick off for tv eg 5.15 kick off??
Is there time to get this last Train?
12.45 Sat is my pred, same as yesterday
Before I print off too many of these, are you sure I'm not liable for any I dont collect?!
Decided to get these for the Saturday and the Sunday, doesn't seem worth it for the Friday as the game would only just be kicking off as the last train you could get leaves. Really surprised that they'll let me use my railcard with the offer, makes it super cheap! Even got the first class variants in case I'm feeling like making a proper day of it.
Hopefully kickoff times will make these vouchers usable! Suppose there's no loss if not though.
First class la de da LOL
