It's not becuase we're trying to stop clubs bidding for him; it's becuase we don't want to play a player who's head is elsewhere, particular in such an important position.

We've done this before: Caicedo in Jan 2023 and Dunk at the beginning of 15/16.

What I find the hardest to work out is that they've managed to put a 6 week timescale on it already. Has he even reported back to Lancing following the Euros??
Why on earth would we pretend he was injured?

Why is it so difficult to accept he is injured?

Maybe he fell off a bike. Maybe he hurt himself during the Euros and the Dutch doctors said "we'll take a look at it... after the tournament".

If you're exceptionally shite conspiracy theory is true, it must have been a really really weird conversation between Tony and Bart.

"Hi Tony! I want to go to Manchester United."
"Ok, but I don't want to sell you to Manchester United."
"But I want to!"
"No. You're injured for six weeks."
"What?"
"We're going to tell the world you're injured until just after the transfer window."
"But what if I tell some journalist I'm not injured and want to go to Manchester United?"
"Eh... hmm.. @nwgull plz help me out with this"

So, the season will start with us having 2 major players injured.
At least last season we started with a fully fit squad.
Already on the back foot !

Liverpool are open to offers for Kelleher. Would be a cracking signing imo. Quality keeper.

Sorry, who is the 'other one'? Do you mean Solly? Or have I missed a recent injury to another player?
There is a lot more than 2. Solly, Pervis and Ferguson are all doubts for the start of the season. March is definitely out, reports had Pervis missing the start of the season too. None are travelling to Japan.

Guessing the poster means the 2 to be Bart and Pedro though. Joao isn’t travelling to Japan either, but nothing has been said beyond he has a minor injury and is staying back in Lancing to work on recovery.

Thanks. I had no idea that Pedro was injured :(

The whole idea that we're pretending our goalkeeper is injured so that another club doesn't buy him is just a completely alien idea.

Why would we pretend he is injured and not play our best keeper in the pre-season or the first few games when we could just play the guy and reject the bid?
We must have been desperate to keep Lallana for the four full years then

It’s not great though is it?

NEVER believe talk of “minor” injuries coming out of the Albion either. Aren’t they “unspecified“ rather than “very minor”?
Indeed. At this stage I’m hoping that at least one survives and is hopefully fit before the end of the season

Yeah, it's silly.

As for how he got injured? People do get injured outside of playing / training football. He could have fallen off his bike for all we know.

Yes, maybe he got his shoe laces caught on a fence he was jumping over.

Yes i didn't know . I'm a bad NSC person. I Just love the way that people jump on it like its some sort of crime telling us our main goal keeper is injured.

Edit: I must get a life and be on NSC more  i'm averaging a post every 2/3 days over 15 years, what a rebel :giggle:

"I must get a life and be on NSC more "

Isn´t that a contradiction ? :)

I have to confess to often not reading all 600 posts before posting. Must do better.

I also need to learn how to search back up to 5 years for a post to quote in order to prove a point! (Or do they have amazing memories?)

Ignore is not just an option on NSC.

Pedro has a "minor" injury that has ruled him out of Japan which is next week. Everton (A) is four weeks away today.
Even if you 're half empty with injury reporting. There haven't been any reports that have said he's missing the start of the season.

Verbruggen has an injury that is "not serious". He wasn't going to Japan anyway. Talk Sport confirmed that he's "expected to miss the first few games of the season". The Argus in their report didn't put a date on it.

PS: to sum up the others.

Ferguson - is back training on the grass after a few months out at end of last season due to ankle issue. Pix of him doing that on club social this week.
Solly - is recovering slowly and is doing solo training on the grass. Plenty of video of him doing that in club promo.
Estupinan -- He had an op at the end of last season on his ankle. RDZ said "Sept or Oct" return when asked at end of April.

Everyone else is fit even James Milner.
