The Bolivarian revolution has made the middle class poor and the working class destitute. The maduro regime and his military leaders, propped up by 30k cuban secret service personnel and his armed "collectivo" motorcycle gangs, are basically nothing more than a narco, crime cartel who are enriching themselves as the country starves...... The hospitals have no medicines,the supermarkets no foods, people are scratching around in bins to try and feed their kids, millions have fled and inflation is almost 10,000,000%....and this was the richest country in south america, reduced to a corrupt basket case.

What is clear, is that whilst hard left utopian theology may look appealing........ once you've voted in such a hard left socialist government, you can only shoot your way out of it.

It doesn't look good for Guiado. This may turn out to be a big day for Maduro. Guiado has gambled everything on this move but there doesn't seem to be the swing from the military that he needed. If he doesn't win, Maduro will quickly try to arrest him and the opposition may lose its figurehead. What we don't know, so far, is what is happening outside Caracas.

Anyism or system that doesn't want to play ball with the US, rightly or wrongly, will have sanctions put on it, and any country trying to bypass the sanctions will get sanctions too. It is an oil rich country that cannot sell oil because of restrictions.

I don't know much about what is going on in Venezuela, I know it's corrupt, but I would not be surprised if the opposition in Guaido is being financed by the US government.

It is certainly true that the USA has a long track record of financing opposition groups in Latin America - and now they complain that people from countries they've royally screwed with are seeking asylum in the US. In this case, the US now have a lapdog in Brazil with which to influence matters. Ironically, there are huge similarities between the methods of Maduro and Trump. Both are tinpot dictators.
