Did you land and get breakfast? Did you do a massive sweep of the strip before you went back to O'Hare?

Did you pay $50 for a DVD of you getting on and off the Helicopter? Did the pilot get all defensive about near by Area 51?

We landed in the canyon and got a picnic lunch with champagne. The helicopter took off from an airport in Boulder City which is quite a drive from Las Vegas so did not include a fly over the strip. Did not pay for a dvd and did not mention area 51.

Pilot we had was great though. He was from the area (Arizona) so was very knowledgable and he looked a bit like 'Goose' out of top gun!

smithy...how far is the Grand canyon from Denver? I am over there working for a week next weekend and wondered if its worth a trip. The rockies are only 70 miles away so I'll probably hire a car and have a drive out there, but I would like to see the GC

The canyon is a few hours drive from Las vegas 3 hours I think, there is no way this is a day trip for you Dave, Vegas is a 2 hour flight from Denver!

You will have a far better experience of seeing the Grand Canyon by Helicopter if you drive from Vegas to Grand Canyon South Rim (about 2.1/2 hours) and then take the Helicopter from there.

The ones from Vegas generally go over the Western end of the GC.

I'm off to LV in three weeks time. We did the grand Canyon last time we went so we're doing Zion national park and Lake Powell this time. Well looking forward to it.

Zion is great - make sure you 'hike the Narrows' - but start early, wear good shoes (good walking boots, that will get very wet,) and hire a stick from outside the Park.

From Lake Powell do you intend to drive over to Monument Valley? Well worth it IMO.

Apparently the white planes with a red stripe down the side seen around the Vegas airports are the planes that carry people in and out of Area 51! They have their own runway for use as well.

Certainly going to do a hike or two at Zion, was thinking about the more challenging Angels Landing but not sure if the mrs would manage it.

Have done Monument Valley on a previous trip and as on limited time it'll just be Zion and Powell on the scenery front.

We did plane from LV. Over and down deep into the canyon. Grand Canyon has it's own little airport. Land, jump on a bus, takes you to different spots around the rim and throw in a lunch. Worth doing.
