[Football] VAR question

Just before half-time Maupay crossed the ball from the left that flew across the face of goal.
It looked like the ball may have gone over the line for a goal kick before he crossed it.
If a goal had been scored, could it have been reviewed by VAR to see if the ball had gone over the touchline?

My TV must have different pictures to most as I saw it as an obvious penalty as Mane had his left ankle tapped and was tripped, and I dont like Liverpool but to me there is no question about it.

What I saw, from the same pictures, was Mane getting his foot touched and then throwing himself to the ground a step or two later, clearly NOT as a result of Albrighton touching his foot but of his own volition.

Not according to the ref, the linos, or the VAR. And why would the ref check the monitor if he'd seen it as a penalty, given the penalty, and the VAR agreed with him? He would only look at the monitor if VAR was saying to him, "Err.....you might want to take another look at that".

And yes, I am aware that this is NSC and it was Liverpool that got the pen!

He needed to take another look at that.
Even Klopp knew it because he deflected it by going on about a red card for Choudery, which was bearly a yellow.
And I have no problems with Liverpool either.

It's not your TV that has different pictures.
You seem to see most things completely differently to most other people.

Who can listen in to the ref/var conversations?
I ask because either the Saints or Newcastle game had a pause for VAR and the commentator said "VAR has decided no penalty, and that didn't come directly from VAR". But he gave the answer before the ref with finger in ear knew. How?

Agree with you about the pen.

I rather like Liverpool though (but nowhere near as much as I like my team, Brighton). Back in the days when we were always in the lower divisions, it was nice to have an interest in the top flight; in my case that was Liverpool, a lovely city where I lived for five years.

I agree that he should've have taken another look but I think you'll find that no ref has so far this season used the pitch side monitor and the only reason for this can be that they have decided to take matters into their own hands and ignore it. Remember that the VAR is just another ref making dumb decisions. In this case, Mane was touched on the back of the leg by Drinkwater but delayed reacting.

As it's Liverpool, the league won't punish him for deceiving the ref. Klopp has distracted everyone by moaning about another tackle.

Player goes down in the box, ref thinks it's a dive and gives him a second yellow card so he's sent off.
Then VAR pipes up and says "he WAS fouled so it's a penalty".
Does the ref invite him back on ?

My thought is that the VAR referee would be in the referee's ear before the a red card would be issued. Therefore there would be no need to reverse the red card decision.
