However, I'm healthier even if i'm 3 stone heavier after three years. I'm sure it's nothing to do with chocolate and alcohol.......they're slimming, right?

I think you've hit the proverbial nail on the head. Most people that smoke are likely to have some addictive traits... so if we're not smoking, what are we doing? It was chocolate for me (although I quit in the middle of uni, so alcohol definitely played a big part too.

I'm of the understanding that smoking also suppresses hunger... so that probably has an impact too! Although I'd imagine vapers are still affected by this as it's the nicotine that does the suppressing.

These deaths are related to cannabis vaping. Nothing to suggest all e-cigarettes are dangerous, though personally I wouldn’t take the risk.

Also further in the article.
Doctors and health officials are now urging people stay away from all vaping products until they establish what is causing the illnesses.

They’d be more accurate to say stay away from guns. There is absolutely no evidence being put forward so it’s a load of tosh

You sound like a tobacco lobbyist from the 1950’s.

No I'm not thanks. However the evidence appears to be connected with vaping dodgy shite but there's far more of lobby saying that stuff is ok.

vaping has helped many heavy smokers kick the weed and there's not a single report anywhere in the world that doesn't agree vaping is far better than smoking.

Oh and you sound like someone who pokes their nose in where it's not wanted.

Trouble with vaping is that smokers switch to try and stop smoking but, instead of seeing it as a bridge to stopping, they keep on and treat the vape as a fashion accessory that makes them look cool. Ironic, since most smokers take up smoking via peer pressure and to look cool. Whereas vapers just look like kids with a dummy. I find it hard to sympathise having had more vape smoke puffed in my face by 'cool' vapers than I ever had cigarette smoke as it comes in billowing clouds. But why would vapers ever think all that smoke would have no effect on their lungs?

Why would I be poking my nose in where it’s not wanted? This is an open forum.

So vaping has no tobacco and tar. But what about all the other chemicals people are putting into their bodies. The long term effects all these chemicals are yet to be seen.

All the research indicates a much lower risk. Public Health England state 95% less risk, toxins 1/1000th of a fag. There's a few sceptics such as Dr Riddington who writes for just about any paper who will pay him, he offers nothing to back him up and isn't even a specialist in the field. He has a view nothing more nothing less. Plenty of other Doctors are more than happy with them and as there's loads of them smoke they too have started vaping.

As I posted above it's the crap people are putting in their vapes that could cause the issues, cannabis etc. I buy from a UK company that make their products here. I would never buy from a corner shop/garage.

Vaping may be better than smoking but there isn't a report in the world anywhere that has established that it is 100% safe.

Oh, and you do sound like pro smoking lobbyists from the 50s to the late 90s, especially those that spent millions denying there was any connection with cancer, millions that was funded by the tobacco companies.

It's not safe to do anything 100%.

Answer this then why are they looking at vapes to help administer certain breathing related drugs? My wife suffers from a very rare lung disease Lymphangeiolyomyomatosis and has to attend Royal Brompton on a regular basis, one of the people she has to see is a Professor Maher who is considered one of best in this country in this field of medicine. He is leading a lot of research and is in agreement in the use of vapes for people wishing to stop smoking.

Cocaine and herion used to be over the counter drugs used to treat kids headaches and coughs. I bet plenty of Doctors were publishing papers and journals back then telling of the wonders of these drugs. We probably won’t see the long term effects of vaping for many more years.

Personally I utterly despise the sickly-sweet odour of vaping. I'd honestly rather you just killed yourselves with tobacco rather than inflicting that thick candyfloss airborne gunk you make us walk through.

Give up, or piss off.

Sorry to hear about your wife.

My position is that I've always been anti smoking because I lost my father, my uncle and grandfather all to lung cancer.

I'm not sure we are poles apart as I'm not saying vaping is as bad as smoking hence why it a good step towards not smoking. But the full effects aren't yet known. It should also be a stepping stone to giving up entirely but as another poster alluded to, some see it as just an alternative.

As for using vapes to administer medicine I don't see a problem. The issue is what people are putting in the vapes. It's a bit like syringes. Some use it to administer medicine for health reasons and some use it inject narcotics to get high. The syringe isn't the issue.

This is everything to do with THC.
there is no evidence in the U.K. that any person has ever died in this country from the effects of vaping.
THC has been smoked for hundreds of years so my thoughts are that some illegal solvent has been added to the THC to aid extraction.

Inhaling anything other than clean air into your lungs is a bad move - however vaping seems to be the lesser of two evils. All current research suggests vaping is a far healthier alternative to smoking. The vape industry is pretty evil though. Undoubtably aiming to get kids hooked on nicotine.

I'm on 6mg and mix my own. I'm vaping chocolate/hazelnut/cream and apple/peach/strawberry at the moment. It's been quite an epiphany for me.

I’m with you on this one. I’m a DIYer too.
