If that’s the case, I’d rather him be “bedded in” in a European group-stage game than a premier league game.

He didn’t do anything wrong but as others have pointed out, changing the keeper has a huge influence on the rest of the team and can be de-stabilising.

Our squad is now much bigger with many “first choice” players and the constant rotation might hurt us as it can disrupt the rhythm and familiarity that a settled team can develop.
They wanted to qualify for Europe and hopefully do well ,so all players need game time. Bart is very good as he showed last night the punch that went a long way the catch under the bar. Hands like glue. He needs to get some games in.

Not forgetting Webster gave the ball away in the 1st place with a very ambitious pass that was never going to reach destination. The problem then arises that Antonio already knew that Webster wasn't kicking the ball out (because Brighton don't do that) so he just had to play for the ball back to the goalie which Webster provided him with. We should be less predictable. There is another issue that if you do just boot the ball out with multi ball the other team can just pick up the spare ball and carry on with Gross and Milner still 20 minutes away.

We seem to love to knock our Brits in the team. March was hammered, Barnes was hammered, and now there is an attack on the Webster lad. Some people just love to moan, all players make mistakes its just unfortunate defenders in the premier get punished 9 times out of 10.
Come on guys get off his back and stop trying to find a reason why we are not top of the league.
True Albion fans are just happy to see the massive gains we have made. Webster will always improve, he is that sort of player.

People are disappointed He gave the ball away then tried a back pass that was a very low percentage. He is often injured then seems to take sa long time to get up to speed when he does get fit. We lost 3-1 led to the very important 1st goal. Just because someone vents their disappointment really isn't moaning its having a opinion in my opinion. If i mess up at work i expect to be told about it.

If anything , Webster has been given a free pass on here . He consistently gives the ball away that lead to chances . Always has . On his good days the positives generally paper over the cracks . It’s just how it is with Webster . I don’t think anyone is being vindictive , just giving their opinion

Webster and to a lesser degree dunk have been given a reasonably easy ride over the last few years as the managers have protected them so well. Now with this kamikaze zerbi ball we are seeing them in their raw form. And the results aren't pretty for poor old webbo.

Ultimately if we are aiming top 6-8 webbo is done.

NSC is a place for opinions. Webster was shocking on Saturday and is rightly being discussed. It is a legitimate question as to if he is good enough and has every right to be debated!

Caicedo and Bissouma have protected them so well!

Having a false right back with no pace next to him, a centre back with no pace next to him plus no specialist DM to protect him has done for Webster. RDZ should fix those issues rather than attempt to fix him.

When will we see Igor? I would have assumed the ideal choice is to emulate last season with Dunk at right centre back, and the Colwill replacement (Igor?) at left centre back...

I would also add we had the exact same discussions in league one and the championship about player’s performance, just because we are in the PL doesn’t give players a free pass when they play as badly as Webster did Saturday.

Incredible voting. He's one of our own and we treat him like this with only 4% wanting him in the team. You lot badly need to give your heads a wobble.

Watching Milner on Saturday felt like watching Duffy under Potter, i.e his defensive instincts to clear his lines and get rid compromised by the teams style to play out from the back. I think he'll be ok with proper RB and DCM around him, but then he's had a year now under RDZ.

You are aware we can’t put the whole squad in the starting line up?

What constitutes someone being “one of our own”? I always reserved that term for someone who came through the academy. Is it that Webster is English, and Van Hecke not? Should we only have English players in our team?

You probably wouldn't expect to be told about it by dozens of people on an internet message forum ad nauseum

Did you honestly think no Albion fan on this forum was going to mention Webster’s performance and mistakes after the match on Saturday?

No, of course not, but he is being hung drawn and quartered. Blimey, we do like a scapegoat on here. Yes, he had a shocker, but to write him off, as some have done, is absurd.

Some of us got grief for calling Webster (and Van Hecke) bang average earlydoors on this thread.
It was true then, and it's true now

Webbys best is easily good enough for us and where we want to be.

I just wonder if the incessant niggling injuries are getting the better of him. A full pre season and I'm not sure we see performances like that from him.
