Possibly that too. Because Estupinan rejoined training last week, Kadioglu is presumably joining us within 48 hours and we (probably) have a CB incoming alongside a fit Hinshelwood - who played for the first time in 5 months on Saturday. Alongside a fit Dunk, JPVH, Veltman, and Webster.
And because Hurzeler wants a squad of 22-25 to manage, not 35-40.
This is key.

We currently have 36 including the elusive Ed Turns - but with no more incomings included in that count.

I suspect we'll get that down to 26-27 including the not-quite-fit-yets.

If Ferdi comes in makes some sense

Pervis on the left, Ferdi on the right. If either gets injured at all Hinch can step in on the right and Pervis or Ferdi can go to the left. 3 very good option. Still veltman and lamprey as well at moment.
If Barco goes plays 30/40 games with no option to buy him we will be the winners longer term

It would really suck if we find ourselves in the same position with injuries next Jan/Feb as we did last season. Having a huge squad of talented back-up players isn't much use if they're all out on season-long loans (which usually means they can't be recalled, no?).
Depends on the terms of the loan.

Most of the time loans can be recalled, however this can only be activated during transfer windows, meaning January would be the earliest we could recall and once we're in February we wouldn't be able to recall him.

You're right to counsel caution at internet rumours.

But it tallies with other things we're seeing. Baleba left back in pre season, Hinsh LB at Goodison, pursuit of someone who seems to be a left back.

Also I'm gettina sense that Fabi doesn't seem to want 18 / 19 / 20 year olds in his side. He’s happy with 22 / 23 year olds, (OK, Hinsh played at Everton, but I think there are 4 others, who would have played ahead of him at LB but for injury) but I think there is a pattern developing that the age of us fielding very young players is coming to an end

If the rumour has been entirely made up, it’s a plausible one
I don't think it's Hurzeler. Hinshelwood, Minteh, Barco, Ayari, Baleba and O'Mahony were all in the squad on Saturday. Ferguson and Enciso are coming back from injury and we've just bought Gruda. He's shown nothing to suggest that he won't use them if they're good enough, but the club has always tried to protect the younger players, not over work them. That's not been as possible as they may have liked over the last couple of seasons.

However, I think that you've picked up on something. The club has been playing catch up on it's succession planning after a whirlwind couple of seasons and it's probable that the plan for the youngsters to get experience and come in more physically ready is more a reversion to our original method that has recently been disrupted by departures and injuries. Just because the club didn't come to an agreement over working with RDZ, doesn't mean that they didn't consider the validity of some of his complaints and look to where improvement was possible. The investment this summer has been astonishing, but we will have to satisfy future PSR rules and Barber on TalkSport seemed to be expecting to recoup some of that investment from sales over the next few seasons and is presumably planning for that.

Where I am. An element of catching up and a big chunk of succession planning for Mitoma, Pedro, Pervis I’d imagine

Not having a go at you, but look at the number of qualifiers in your post. Rightly, because none of us know anything. It could be true. He could be going. However, it's not yet a fait accompli, but the posting that followed the report universally assumed it was. Some journalist from Rotterdam pretty much had a bed laid out in his spare room awaiting Buonanotte's arrival, WBG's been off to Napoli all summer, Lamptey was supposed to be off on loan last summer, or was it January? Some come true, some don't. The whole business is a cloud of tittle in a nebula of tattle and yet every uttering is taken as the voice of the burning bush preceding the tablets of stone.

All I'm saying is let's worry about it when it happens, not if it might happen.
Are you suggesting waiting for announcements on seagulls.co.uk and not spending three hours a day on NSC making up scenarios ? where’s the fun in that ?

Lucky sod living in Seville city for a year. No option to buy but risk is they fall in love with each other and he doesn’t want to return. Not sure they’d pay (or even afford) TB’s valuation, mind.
Agreed...
Id be more worried about one of the very biggest clubs falling in love with him though and offering a big fee next summer that we couldnt refuse. It would be a crying shame not to see this guy in the stripes properly for a season or 2. I guess its the risk we take though and is in keeping with our model. Could echo Undav in that regard

No way will there be a purchase option at that value. It would barely represent a profit. We made £20m profit on Undav!

Good one year loan and then we’ll have him back to replace Pervis when we sell him for £60m.
I never said there would be. I said that he could have a stunning season with Sevilla and then get snapped up next summer by a bigger fish. I use the Undav comparison as he wasnt really played here, went away and made a name for himself and thus was not seen in the stripes again.

Think people are also massively under rating Joel Veltman in all of this.

Rarely puts a foot wrong and another experience head amongst the youngsters.

He will have more than his part to play this year
I love Joel but kind of surprised he’s still here. Defensively good, but his recovery isn’t great and going forward he’s a bit suspect.

Didn’t really fit RDZ and not convinced he will fair much better under Fabien

I agree it’s an area we can ‘upgrade’ but if we’re away at a tough ground seeing out a 1-0 win I know who I’d want on the pitch.

I agree. Terrific player. Some of the comments dismissing him have been ludicrous and been made seemingly in some kind of hedonistic transfer salivating bloodlust

But I can't shake the thought that we're now defending on the half way line. Number one quality we're going to need in a full back is ability on the cover. Is this Joel's game?

I agree we need cover, and Joel’s game doesn’t suit a high line but there will be games (and moments in games) where we will need to sit back and absorb pressure and he is great at that.

It’s a long season and a squad game and I think he will play his part

Honestly! You'd think that a load of grown adults could find something more worthwhile to do than speculate about transfers!!

Take some time away from the gossip sites and you can fill your increased free time with a walk in the countryside, a chat with your loved ones, a creative project arguments about chip forks/honey badgers, making fish puns & finding the FA Cup Final money.
