I know there's talk of him going straight into the first team for selection but,

Bissouma, AliMac, Caicedo, Enciso, Buonanotte (and all the development lads didn't) and a lot did some loans.

The only two I remember since Maupay/Webster who were immediately starters were Estupinan and Cucurella but they were a lot older. If he's one of those excellent but I'm not holding my breath

If we have a full squad by mid Feb (without Solly) that'll do for me

I was quoting your post to make the point about Alexis. The rest of my post was what I though would happen it had nothing to do with what you had posted, I actually acknowledged several others had made the same point. This board isn't your own personal soap box. You don't need to point out every time you've already said something that someone else repeats etc.
I just pointed out that I said as much in the same post of mine that you actually quoted ffs - that was the whole point of my post - that we would likely keep him until the summer (unless as I also said earlier 🙂 that he was immediately contracted to go out on loan with an allowance for international competition) — it came across tbh that you were contradicting my whole post or at least ignoring it when you said you agreed with ‘others’ so I simply pointed out that we were actually agreeing - no need to go off on one.🙄

Ps - of the 48 threads I can see on the boards home page, I’ve posted on 6 of them with only about 4 where I’ve posted regularly - but over a period of days mainly on two or three threads only - hardly ‘using the boards as a personal soapbox’ 😕

Went on loan to the club we're signing Barco from didn't he?

We're gonna need a bigger barco.

I'm sure someone will correct me but I was sure the loan window shuts the same time as the ordinary window, I.e. the end of January.
As we don't expect him here till mid February, I don't see how we can loan him out, unless we arrange it now before he gets here!
Great point! Seems unlikely then.

Here is Owen doubting whether we’ll be doing much business this window but more interestingly, suggesting the club believe we don’t actually need any immediate strengthening.

The club would say that in public though wouldn't they ? They are negotiating - so best put it out there that we can take or leave any deals and that we don't need any signings.

Just because this is NSC and nothing can go unchallenged I'm going to add the following to your list : Welbeck, Lallana, Milner, Igor, Verbruggen, Baleba, Dahoud, Pedro, Moder, Lamptey, Mwepu, Trossard. And Buonanotte was signed on 1st jan and made his debut on 4th feb :p

Buonanotte, Enciso, Alexis all found it tough to get used to PL football at first. Only Caicedo looked ready (and he’d been loaned out).

Barco needs experience and needs game time to develop - he’s played very little first team football - so saying that a loan is possibly part of the plan is just the obvious. Depends on the right club, the right time (now ? , the summer ? ) injuries, if he impresses RDZ etc. But hardly a surprise it’s being considered.

That said - My guess is he’ll train with the first team until at least the summer.
If he's back from playing the Argentina U23 in mid Feb, then say at least a couple of weeks for RDZ to make a preliminary assessment. Would there be any loan window open even if we wanted too 🤔

Wonder if the delay in the official announcement is because they are looking to do a loan at the same time? Pleased to announce that he has signed and will now spend the rest of the season at x club
