Just wanted to share some feedback from a relative of mine who lives in Buenas Aires (he is Argentinian) and is a Boca fanatic. Here are a few extracts:

• He's been the best player of Boca in 2023. So talented
• He started as a left side defender and as he was so talented the coach change his position and put him as a midfielder and in some matches as a forward
• He is not so good when he has to defend, mostly because he is young and doesn't have a body. But he has a great attitude
• He is small and needs a few visits to the gym
• He has a strong personality. He started playing at the first team and didn't feel the pressure. He fastly became one of the 11 starters. He pushed the team forward in the field and has been very creative, something that the team needed desperately
• On the otherside I can tell you that I also have my doubts about his personality. He played only 35 matches at Boca, and became famous very fast. This year he had a few problems in some matches because he make fun of some rivals
• Yes, he has everything to be an important player of the team. He also played de U20 WC for Argentina
• The thing that most impress me about him is that he played very well on the moments that Boca was a total disaster. Although he was new in the team he changed everything
• Brighton seems to be a good destination for the young argentinian players, we have seen very all what happened with Alexis
• The player had a few fights with his contract and wanted a low contractual clause (I don't know if that's the correct word) so he could be easily bought from a european team

In summary, a talent with a strong personality!

The last bit of decent info from Owen & Naylor was that the process will take some time.

Despite Romano ‘here we going’ everyday on this, the former story remains true.

Signing a player in another country (without them coming here because of an international tournament) is surely complicated.

But hopefully it’ll be announced today (not the loan but the transfer).

The conditioning coaches in the prem and at the Albion are class. Look at March and even Enciso etc - they make them stronger but keep their speed. He’s in the right place.

Also read he is a first team signing somewhere and isn’t with us til Feb and sure RDZ will want to look at him up close so not sure a loan is the plan - but seems Naylor suggesting that at some point? (Not athletic subscriber)

Ultimately down to the players ability and aptitude(that includes strength and fitness) to fit in RDZ style. If he turns out to be a sensation in training then he will play. Why wouldn't he?

I’ve guessed that the club’s two objectives this window are to get a ‘young March’ for right wing cover and to sign enough defensive cover to ensure that Milner never has to play full back for our club again (he is fine in the midfield or on the wing).

If Barco is an in-out, the club are gambling Velts. Estupinan and Lamptey coping with all the fixtures and not getting injured. That seems a massive gamble to me if we are to stick with RDZ’s preferred back 4 formation.

Do you genuinely think if De Zerbi said, I want to keep him for depth, the club would go above him? I think that’s absolute madness to think so, De Zerbi is a massive part of this decision making process. He will stay at least this season.
