Seen some reports on Twitter that Boca are holding out for the release clause which means that we’ll have to pay the $10m up front. I expect they need the cash. I expect we can find that after recent sales.
May mean this is the only deal we do, this window but with players returning from injury, I’m happy with that.
Seems very unlikely - if Boca want $10M up front, instead of what? $9M up front plus a sell on clause? - why would we balk at that? In the strange financial fantasy world that is the PL (even at our level) $10M ain't a lot, so surely we'd just agree and get it done. It's hardly like they're trying to hold us to ransom..

I guess we've potentially offered an amount close to the release clause (+ sell on) but to be paid in a few chunks, whereas the release clause HAS to be paid in one chunk. I suppose even at our level, spreading the cost of transfer payments will still be very handy for cashflow purposes.

Yep sounds like absolute nonsense as usual.

Post above sounds feasible but I wouldnt have thought Boca are that hard up. But what do I know.

Does appear a little odd we're apparently messing about with small sums (in the World of the EPL).

They can’t hold us to ransom as he has a release clause.
However, I think we have previously offered something like $9m in two instalments and a 10% sell on.
However, it seems like they want the $10m all upfront.
Comes across as a bit short sighted from their perspective unless they have a cash flow issue.
10% of a potential sell on of say $40m would make our offer far better. They seem to want the money now which is possibly to sign a replacement asap.
Looks like he’s ours anyway.
Reported that personal terms already done.

I'm reading it more as an accountancy disagreement. It would obviously be better for us if we could spread the payments over multiple windows, allowing more flexibility elsewhere in the market. It would be better for Boca if we were forced to pay the money up front so that they have all of the money in their pockets.

I can't believe we are struggling to release $10m up front.

It sounds like we are giving Boca the choice of what they want.
Offering a significantly better financial offer than we have to, to keep the relationship sweet.
But keeping the cash back, as a potential downside for Boca .
Potentially a great deal for us, if they go for the cash upfront option.

Of course. Any organisation will say money today rather than money tomorrow.

I'm not sure about this accounting thing. We've had 2 or 3 hundred million in transfer fees in the last few years.

It's incredible that West Ham or Villa or someone a little less concerned by financial details haven't come in and activated the clause.

Let's just give Boca their money and get the lad over to Lancing and shove a pen in his hand

Any minor benefits that might bring us would fade into insignificance if it f***ed up the deal.

I'm hearing absolutely glowing reviews about this lad from those in the know in South America.

Does slightly puzzle me why many more clubs aren't in for him, if that's the case?

At £10m if he's this good surely half the Prem would be interested?!

The only thing I can suggest is that he/his agent have put it out there that he only wants Brighton, otherwise, you're right, it's almost negligence from other clubs if he's that good

What did this chancer say about Solly?

My fav was the other night when he said Veltman was still out for personal reasons and Welbeck would be on the bench - then the complete opposite happened 🤣

Not worth the copy and paste this kid tbh
That his career was done (or that he could never play top flight again). Got called out but kept going until Solly’s misses took herself off private to tell him was talking rubbish. Quickly deleted his tweet.

I've heard there has been interest from Man City and Dortmund. Maybe there have been enquiries from a number of other clubs, who knows.

It just feels like someone will step in with a larger offer. Perhaps this a smokescreen and there is another wonder kid we're in for.
Very much this. It really feels like Boca know they have got another club about to make an offer too and want a bidding war.

Myself and @dazzer6666 have been onto his bullshit for a while - sad to out so much time into making stuff up to our fanbase - some of whom are gullible enough to believe it!

Julian Clary as Herod? I’m tempted to go.
He bought a number of antiques off me. He's a nice person. He used to live in Noel Coward's old house but has since moved. Went to a BBQ there.

Well it depends on how those transfer deals for our players are structured. Based on how Chelsea quite like to do things it wouldn't be a shock if the structure for the British record fee they paid for Moises is spread out for as long as possible.

Whilst fees seem miniscule in the grand scheme of things, we are actually talking about enough money to fund the entire marketing department of the club for at least a few years. It's the responsibility of those doing the deals to get the best deal for the club (which means getting the player of course).

It sounds like we persisted where other clubs didn't and have a reputation where we are the best team in the world to develop at as a young South-American. I'm sure that plenty of other clubs had a sniff but we seem to have become the go to club for young talent to develop at. West Ham and Villa have a structure where if they need a left-back, they can't really say oh we'll just wait six months and use a 38 year old there instead, we can and do and this means that we can pick the exact player we want and make it work for all parties.
