OK that was a harsh penalty but I hate seeing shirt pulling. The worst offense was the shirt pull outside the box but then he did it again, so I really don't have much sympathy for the defender.

Looked quite balanced to me but slipped over when trying to cross the ball, he let go of him about 5-10 yards away from where he actually went down no way it was a pen for me.

Perhaps not a dive because of the initial contact however he looked like he deliberately stayed up until he got far enough into the box and then decided to go down, I won't say he dived but I do think he knew exactly what he was doing, should have been outside the box though as you said anyway.
