'Turning Japanese' by the Vapors is a song about masturbation. There's no truth in the rumour that it's the theme song of some of the posters here though. I think it would be more appropriate than 'Glad all Over' where applicable.

I guess songs about masturbation could almost warrant a thread on its own, but not being a media whore I won’t

Two other obvious ones are Orgasm addict , Buzzcocks and Teenage kicks, Undertones.

With the related line in bands named after bodily emissions resulting from said masturbation: The Lovin' Spoonful, 10cc, Pearl Jam...

Jackson Browne - Rosie

But Rosie you're all right - you wear my ring
When you hold me tight - Rosie that's my thing
When you turn out the light - I've got to hand it to me
Looks like it's me and you again tonight Rosie

Tom Robinson, writer of the gay anthem 'Glad to be gay' is not in fact gay but bisexual. He is married to a lady called Sue Brearley and they have two children.

As presumably is David Bowie. Bowie disowned his first recorded hit record which was released after he had hit the top with Space Oddity (I think).

It was called "The Laughing Gnome" and is probably the only hit record to refer to that wonderful rock establishment known as Eastbourne

..."and they gave me a ticket to Eastbourne, Chuckling way, laughing all day"

or summat like that.

Bet he didn't chuckle so much when he got there.

Not the same Rosie that the late great Don Partridge immortalised then?

Don was apparently thrown off a tour just after his second hit "Blue Eyes" when he responded to a member of the audience who requested Rosie as part of his set by yelling at them to "Piss Off". Maybe it wason TV or radio, I can't imagine that would bother anyone these days. But in 1968...

Please no we had that all in the "In My Pants" thread recently...

How about a new one? Politically incorrected band names...

Three Dogging Night

The Bonzo Dogging Doo-Dah Band

Dildo Baggins

etc. etc.

Well I don't entirely trust Wikepedia as they reckon they opened for Led Zep at Knebworth in 1979 - I was there and I don't recall seeing them at all mind you I was out of my box somewhat for 48 hours or so - youth eh? :p

Oh yes they did - I have never forgiven them for waking me up out of my drunken stupor with "When you wake up in the morning with a banging in your head" !!!

Similarly both Leo Sayer and Al Stewart refer to Worthing in a couple of songs .... I think Al sums it all up:

Ah the day we decided to drive down to Worthing, it rained and rained
Giving us only a minute to stand by the sea
And crunching my way through the shingles, it seemed there was nothing changed
Though the jetty was maybe more scarred that I'd known it to be
And Mandi and I stood and stared at the overcast sky
Where ten years ago we had stood, my Grandfather and I
And the waves still rushed in as they had the year that he died
And it seemed that my lifetime was shrunken and lost in the tide
As it rose and fell on the side of England
