An alarming move to say the least.

Everyone should hold fire for at least a month as I predict stormier weather on the economic front in February.

Looks like the FTSE is the only one in the green for today, 65 points up.

Oh come on Uncle, getting panicked and being bounced into a descision which, if he had been bold and descisive 6 months ago would not have been required, is not being bold and descisive.

It's being ordered by his corporate backers to do something NOW or they will pull the plug imediately and his farce of a presidency ends now before he finally crawls away in disgrace in 12 months time.

Is the right answer....

GWB will go down in history as one of those unique events when people in years to come will wonder......how the hell did the people of the United States allow him to become President - twice?

Still it won't be long before Arnie is at the helm and then we can all kiss our asses goodbye......

The only picture I have in my head is of Bush running around like Lance Corporal Jones, waving his arms about and going "Don't panic! Don't panic!"

He's been forced into this because no-one took a blind bit of notice over last week's announcement of about $145bn in tax cuts to encourage spending.

"Francis Lun of Fulbright Securities in Hong Kong said the falls stemmed from disappointment that the US stimulus was "too little, too late" adding that investors felt "it wouldn't help the economy recover".

'Panic mode'

The worry is that tax breaks and spending measures will not be enough to boost consumer spending in the US, because deeper economic problems remain.

At the foot of the downs
I don't think many people's complaints about Bush are to do with his economic policies

Try telling that to New Orleans !!
