If the Republicans get control of Congress then Biden will find it tough to get any legislature through. This could pave the way for Trump to return as president in 2024. We should be worried.
Real concern, not just for the USA, but for the west in general if the Republicans get a footing in either house.

The Republicans will gain control of the Senate and House. Then spend 2 years destroying all attempts at new legislation, especially budgets.
For the right wing goons here who thinks that’s marvellous, god knows why other than an immature culture war in the brain, it could spell trouble for Ukrainians facing genocide and more atrocities.

My biggest concern from all of this is the promise from most of the prospective Republican candidates to ensure that Trump wins in 24 (even if he doesnt get enough votes) their majority view that the 2020 elections were stolen from him.
It feels like the end of true democracy in the US.

Many states -- and more importantly, most swing states -- are seeing 3 to 4 times the youth turnout of 2018, when the Blue Wave gave the Dems back the House. And don't underestimate the women across the US, either -- they are *very* angry about the Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade. Deep red Kansas proved that a few months ago, when voters "rejected a proposed state constitutional amendment that would have said there was no right to an abortion in the state."

They've been saying that for nearly 2 years: Biden, Harris, Fauci and Garland are their main targets. Ted Cruz, Lindsay Graham, Josh Hawley, MTG, Kari Lake, Newt Gingrich et al. have even admitted to media that it would be nothing more than petty vindictiveness, as the GQP refuse to admit that Trump was actually impeachable dozens of times over during his term. The charges would have nothing to do with facts or reality -- they figured out in 2016 the old Goebbels line that "“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."

CNN coverage is worth it just for the utter disdain they use terms like "election liar" and "math disbeliever" when discussing many of the Republican runners.

We’re on Virgin cable TV, they lost CNN a year back.
Gutting for two of us here, we loved their unashamed liberal bias and mocking.

The Republicans had a choice after Jan 6, to admit what happened was complete unacceptable and admit there needed to be a reset or double down.
They chose the later, what happens tonight is going to effect us all around the world...

I cut my cable 15 years ago and have been an on-and-off subscriber of Washington Post, The New Yorker and The Atlantic, among others -- reliable centrist media outlets with fantastic contributors and balanced, rigorous, factual coverage. My favourite stream for watching breaking US news -- elections, debates, primaries, the January 6 Committee hearings -- is on WaPo, and it's free during those nation-defining events. Tonight, their coverage starts at 7 pm ET.

Can’t believe we’re going down this road again with the Orangeman - how can voters have such a blinkered short term memory? 
Everything you say is spot on and I hope this bodes well for a favourable outcome for the Democrats - But the concern is the amount of endorsements Trump has been making in the past year - 4 out of 5 Trump endorsed nominees for open races for state level posts (eg Attorney General, Governor etc) have won elections across the Country. These are people who since 2020 have increased powers to make decisions about the outcome of elections. Trump has also been busy endorsing Senators that support the narrative that Trump won in 2020 and has been discrediting the rest - That is very concerning for the health of democratic process. Trump endorsed senators won renomination races and there has been a surge of recent support for Trump’s Congressional endorsements so Biden could look very weak by tomorrow.
Trump’s hold on the Republican Party is as strong as ever with many Republican Senators choosing to hitch their wagon to Trump’s popularity rather than risk alienating the Republican base that supports him. It remains to be seen if the GOP do the same in the Presidential race or take a deep breath and distance themselves from Trump choosing instead to support De Santis or Cruz etc as the Republican Presidential candidates but if Trump’s endorsements do well in these midterms, Trump will almost certainly announce his intention to run immediately following the results and it is likely he will win the backing of the GOP which will make him very hard to beat in 2024.
One final consideration is the amount of gerrymandering and voter suppression that the Republicans have carried out since 2020 - not least changes to voter registration laws and giving greater power to election officials at state level to overturn votes (reverse the result!) all of which have been designed to reduce the number of people that would vote and would disadvantage minority voters who are more likely to vote Democrat..
These mid-terms will determine whether Trump runs again in 2024 (if the Republicans do well) and whether Biden will not.
I think the Democrats will just hang on to the House (and therefore the Budget) but it seems highly possible they could loose the Senate by several seats. I hope I’m wrong.

I've got quite a few American friends who have always been Republican voters but say they can no longer identify with what the Republican party has morphed into and where it is heading to, it is not the party they grew up with. The Election result deniers, QAnon etc etc. They say this really only leaves them two alternatives, vote Democrat or abstain. Some say that their more conservative friends now refer to them as RINOs (Republican in name only) as they can no longer subscribe to the party's ideology. The divisions in America seem to be getting wider and wider - what a sad state of affairs.
