After waiting four months, they cancelled the slot because of a lack of staff. I don't think a blood shortage is caused by a lack of volunteers, the infrastructure just isn't there. Looking now, I can't get a slot at a place within 15 miles of me until at least Feb 23.

I've had a couple of cancellations and then, when I looked, there was no availability for ages. What I would say is to keep checking as there are often changes to availability that come up.

I cant' give blood in Canada because of Mad Cow Disease
Pull the udder one, that’s some miss-steak, surely.

I’m on 25 donations, by the way. Not been allowed to give twice in the last few years for low iron levels, which was annoying, but I take supplements now and the last have been fine.

I started donating again after long absence, after my son who has a needle phobia started. Couldn’t donate last week due to having shingles which was very frustrating.

Yep. I'll be the tall chap demolishing the TUC cheese biscuits. Only time I ever eat them!
So, that's why there are never any left when I get there. I'm at 3.35, so if I'm there first, I'll be demolishing them

Booked in for Monday - assuming they can find a vein I’m pleased to do my Tony Hancock bit ( they normally struggle to get blood out of me for some reason - apparently I need to drink more water which, at my age,is not my preferred drink of choice).

I'm O negative so they are desperate for my blood. I've still had to reschedule my currently due donation twice after being cancelled at short notice. Currently due to donate mid November. Almost 3 months late.
They're not exactly maximizing their resources, and being self employed the cost to me of three early finishes to make one donation adds up to a lot of biscuits!

They cancelled mine last month only 2 hours before I was due to go...
Was it for the cricket ground when there was the heavy rain? I had the same thing, ready to give #69, and as I was preparing to bimble down there, I had the text cancelling it. Earliest replacement I could get without travelling a LONG way, was 30th November, up at the racecourse. Prefer the cricket ground TBH, but both better than Hove Town Hall when they were running sessions there.

Just had my appointment next month cancelled - the second time this year. Booked for next February, nearly 16 months since my last one.

I'm baffled about people who notch 50 donations: how do they manage it? I'm on 21 and having been donating for the last 45 years. I've lost count of how many I've had cancelled over the years.

Hmm not had mine on the same day cancelled yet.

Had a few cancelled previously and as it's necessary to book so far in advance had a few occasions when come the day of the appointment I've been isolating due to covid or been unwell on that day so had to rebook and then had the same happen again.
