That's crazy. Isn't that what a European squad is for??? Keep it seperate from the league if need be? I don't really get that decision. We can loan to every other team in the UEL though if we wanted....? What's the difference

Joao Cancelo played in the CL against Man City for Bayern last season, whilst still employed by City. (most recent example I can think of).
Well the difference is that we don't have influence over those clubs. But i agree it's hard to see how that would be a material difference in the actual play of the game compared to loaning a player to a team in the same competition that you don't have ownership influence over.

Boniface will get big fee but see the others have been sold for £2/3m which seems so low for a club that has done so well. Something is wrong when after such a successful season and getting into Europe 5 and maybe more players want away. Looking like unless things change they could well find it hard to continue to compete at top of the league.

You can say that again.

Wonder if TB will reinvest after the embargo or look for another club. Feel we will miss being able to loan players to USG this season
Tony still has an investment in USG, he’s just sold or transferred part of his shares to his business partner and their chairman Alex Muzio to make him the majority shareholder. I can’t see that changing as there is every chance that we could end up in European competition together again.

We only loaned them one player last season as far as I can remember. That was Simon Adingra and that was to get a work permit as well as play at a decent level that had worked for us before in giving a player valuable experience.

Lots of clubs will still want our players such is our reputation now and rules have changed so we might no need to use the loan market to get someone a work permit now.

That would seem a perfectly logical assumption.

However, they replaced €20m+ goal scoring sensation Boniface with Dennis Eckert Ayensa. A free 27 year old journeyman striker from Germany who hit double figures in the German 3rd tier a couple of times but has been shite for a year or two.

USG have of course won their first two games against good teams ( Anderlecht & Standard Liége ) with their ‘journeyman’ scoring in both. They sit top of the table and are looking very good.

How do they do it?

Went last night to watch St Liege against USG.
USG by far the better team, well organised and clear patterns play. Nice goal too.
Liege though were poor. Going down to 10 men in the first half didn’t help and ruined the game a bit.
