What colour was she?

Purple?

As has already been pointed out, there's a huge risk that this will set Oceanic off.

But ...

Yeah, I saw that story at the time but I just don't understand the guy's thinking. White isn't in the Union Flag because there are white people in the UK, it's because both the English and Scottish flags contain white.

I don't see too many blue or red people walking around either.

This idea should be filed next to the multicoloured tail livery of BA planes in the 90s, i.e. redundant.

Oh good grief. I'm no fan of the Union Flag/Jack/Whatever partly because I'm an English Nationalist and partly because it represents the union of England, Scotland and Ireland. It may have escaped people's notice but most of Ireland isn't in the Union any more and the bit that is is not exactly 100% enthusiastic about it.

However, just to put that lady right the colors in the Union Flag have nothing to do with skin color. It doesn't represent the end of years of bitter fighting between the White people, the Red people and the Blue people who decided to live in harmony and have a flag where all their skin colors were represented. If it did there may be a case for adding black brown and yellow into it.

Worthing
genius response on BBC website just highlighting the absurdity of the inclusion of black to represent race

"The idea is fine in principle but the design is all wrong. As far as I can see the blue and red people of this country as still massively over represented. Perhaps we could use a system of proportional representation and update the flag at each census.
Martin Steven, UK"

for heavens sake drop the PC bollox. for example i don't see any black in the flags of nigeria, brazil and ethiopia or any white in the flags of germany, sweden or spain. possibly because the colours dont represent race!!!!!!!!!

And the Irish one that was also used.

Overall theres more white in those three than any other colour on the flag, yet its under represented! I call for a rebellion!!! :jester:
