Okay - a female friend of mine has been experiencing this phenomenon - mainly in the midriff area of t-shirts.

There is no evidence of moths or mice or some other creature. Any ideas?

And you said, don't worry, it just so happens that I'm a member of Brighton football fans' forum, we'll have this sorted in no time.

It's bizzare the topics that get covered here.

It could be fat spitting from a frying pan

I'm with the Blim theory. Does she have a teenage daughter who borrows her clothes?

If she does a lot of cleaning, could be splashed bleach.

I carried an old car battery once and the same happened to me.

Failing that, Google the rare species of belly button moth.
