I couldn't remember, so didn't say it would, just that there was a risk, but maybe not. Still, if we make the play offs, they'd definitely are. Basically, until we're in with a shout of automatic promotion, I'll usually expect to fail in the play offs because of the curse of TV.

Not sure about the technicalities and exact comparison details between Oscar and Gus but i do know i FEEL happier and far more secure being led by Oscar thanks very much so the comparisons just don't matter to me.

After 32 games last season we had 49 points which is identical to today. GD then was +11 as opposed to +7.

Although we hadn't had Ulloa or upson for almost all of that time.

We tend to play better against the higher quality teams in the division, whatever the outcome this season it have always regarded it as a transitional year with all the upheaveal during the summer. For me it's been another wonderful year supporting the Albion

don't get me wrong, i think we've done well in terms of league position, but i just think the football we play has largely been dire.

We had too many draws in games we should've won easily early in the season, because we didn't take our chances and were lacking a decent goalscorer. That changed when Ulloa signed. As you say, there was the odd aberration, but can you imagine the present team beating, say, Blackpool 6-1 and completely outclassing the opposition as we did on a number of occasions? At the moment, we are sneaking games 1-0 often unconvincingly.

Gus's squad was superior, as was our style of football. I really think last season was our big chance. Do we even deserve to go up this season? Our current squad simply isn't good enough. That said, the signing of Lingard after a succession of very average players could give us the lift we need, just like Leo joining us last year.

I agree with one of your points in that last season was the big opportunity, whatever squad we assemble in the championship is not going to cut it in the prem so we need a squad to get us there. Many on here last year were satisfied with our 'unique' style of play and the fact that we had a five year plan. Why go up now when we can go up at the end of the five year plan?
In response to your points about outclassing others, yes we beat, Blackpool and Huddersfield well, but the likes of the Charlton home, Barnsley and Bristol away games were poor. In terms of the differences in the two squads I can only think of Bridge, Hammond and Dicker as the major changes?

millwall away is a case of this. last season should have been an absolute mauling, i remember us cutting through them at will in the second half. of course it only ended 2-1 but we deserved more. yesterday by contrast was terrible. i defy anyone to find a game in the last few months where we have tormented the opposition for the majority of the game.

Last season Millwall had 10 men, and Chris Wood still nearly equalised near the end. Apart from that though, I'd agree, we were playing a lot better last year. Gus had longer to get his players playing the way he wanted.

That was as I intended. It's not so much a criticism as an observation that under Gus I can't imagine us ever going two down at home to a team like Wigan but equally, we tended to cock things up in winnable away games where a draw might also have been deemed acceptable.

Does it make up for the 10 points or so we're down as under Gus we always beat the teams at the bottom at home

Good point.

Although that was one of our worst performances of the entire season.

I don't think the difference between our normal performance this season and Saturday was as drastic.

Still not anti-Oscar. Just a bit, well, bored I guess, by our style of play at times this season.

We would probably have had an additional 20% but that would have just been through passing it around at the back.
