I read somewhere once (may have been Strummer's autobiography) that guitar solos are basically musical :tosser: and that those who play them are just show offs.
Right back in the day I got dragged to a Yngwie Malmsteen concert.

With that in mind it's impossible to argue with the statement above.

i said it before the last time a thread was about this, so I'll say it again - Tony Peluso on "Goodby To Love"

Well played sir - a reminder that not all great guitar parts are necessarily in "rock" songs. How about these?

Same song, almost same guitar solo. Walker Brothers version just edges it for me although Tom Rush actually wrote the song.

Something to do in lieu of any football would be to go to the suggestions on this forum and listen to them.

I'm no heavy metal fan but huge kudos to Eddie Van Halen. Just try listening to Ain't Talking About Love and not be blown away.

Favourite bass guitarists: Tina Weymouth, Kim Deal, Peter Hook, Mark King, Robbie Shakespeare

Lead guitar: Dave Gilmour, Johnny Marr, Brett Butler, Eddie Cochran, Keef Richards, Carlos Santana, John Martyn, Ike Turner

and probably loads, loads more that I've forgotten.

Got dragged kicking and screaming to a Manitas de Plata concert at the Dome in the 60s. A stunning performance that lives with me to this day, even though I'm not into flamenco.

Have checked but this legendary guitarist (and legendary band) haven't featured yet

Have seen Wilko play a few times but seeing the full original Feelgood line - up is top of my "...if you could travel back in time for one gig......" list.

I'm liking the amount of random videos in this thread, sometimes a bit of NSC education can be a good thing.

As the avatar probably implies, i have my own particular bias here but anyone good enough to be included in this sort of thread is going to be worth listening to.

Also, Al De Meola (not sure he's been mentioned).

Most that I would nominate already mentioned so I'll just chuck in Paco de Lucia and Neil Young
