Why are the UKIP standing for election for a Parliament they do not wish Britain to belong to?

I fail to see how they can change British policy (set in Westminster) regarding the EU from the EU parliament.

Whether you support them or not, this is surely a complete waste of time.

I suppose so, but at least Sinn Fein were joining a parliament that did make policy regarding Northern Ireland.

As far as I know, the European parliament's remit does not cover whether Britain should remain a member or not.

Sinn Fein stood for parliament, were duly elected but didn't attend as they refused to swear allegiance to the Queen. The sad fact here was that they were in fact denying the people in their constituencies any representation in Parliament and therefore any say in making laws affecting their province.

I suppose it depends how you wish to register your protest, I have always considered that Sinn Fein would have done far more to forward their cause had they actually taken up their seats in the house, rather than appear on the television with a voice over man reading prepared statements.

Despite some scepticism about the EU, I can't help but view the UKIP as a Little Englander band of weirdos. No doubt popular in Swindon and Falmer "village".

As I said I'm not sure about my prejudice and am prepared to be wrong. But I'm as scared of being swallowed up by the USA as the USE.

I have my UKIP Beer mat kindly given to me by those gurning shirt rippers at Swindon.A great advert for the UKIP...

I think the UKIP are going to surprise a few people at the elections. My Grandad who was a liberal candidate says there is genuine concerns about the growing number of UKIP supporters.

Most people who are concerned about english issue's will not support the moronic BNP and the UKIP is the party that offers middle ground.

Do not confuse the BNP and the UKIP.loony liberals love to tar them with the same brush.

I'd love to know if the UKIP MEP's claim all the expenses they can on the 'Gravy Train' as they call it.

I bet they try and milk it for as much as they can!

As someone said before, they are there to expose corruption - the UKIP are volunteers who believe in something not some career Tory or Labour MP just after what he or she can get

looking at the history of some of the candidates, wouldn't looking into other peoples affairs the pot calling the kettle black?

This corruption allegation is amazing. The 'Unelected Masses' don't just appear from the eather, they are signed in from voted members, just like Kinnock and Patten, were signed in from Tory and Labour MEPs.

If you want to see a load of unelected old-todgers with power, just take one look at the house of lords.
