Highly popular comedy from the Emerald Isle. Will most likely walk this.

Gentle, warm, quaint, a show that glorifies in the mundanity of small-town life. Quintessentially British. Fans of this show might want to look away now, it could get ugly.

Shock early lead from Crook & Jones. Surely not?!

In my defence, I was left unsupervised.

Loved the Detectorists. I was a bit of a latecomer to it, but it was brilliantly written with beautifully observed characters. Lovely gentle humour and of course the acting was a total joy. Plus it had fantastic storylines that moved along, but without feeling that we were rushing from one situation to the next. An absolute comedic gem.

Anyway, I've voted for Father Ted.

Normal service starting to resume but still certainly closer than I expected.

The Detectorists is just LOVELY isn't it. Brilliantly acted and written but let me try and think of a quote from it now........hmmm

To me, Father Ted should be key challenger for the title.

Speed 3 and the Eurovision episode might be my 2 favourite comedy episode ever.

This has the feel of Liverpool v Utd in the FA Cup third round.
I'm surprised at how much love there is for the Detectorists, a show I like, but one I think would be too slow to get so many votes.

For me neither make my Top 10 UK Comedies, but each to their own.

The Detectorists felt like the perfect antidote to over the top nature of a lot of modern TV. It was happy to be gentle and understated, which was really refreshing. It also made you genuinely care for the characters.

Oh I totally agree - just didn't think such a comedy would be so popular.

The result of this poll is an indication of everything that is wrong in the world. So predictable, yet disappointing. :nono:
I think quite a number of people have Ted down to win the whole thing. I would hope to see Blackadder put up a fight, amongst others.

I’d be quite surprised to see Father Ted win it. But maybe I’m being too swayed by my own opinion rather than its overall popularity.

I'm not saying it'll definitely win, but I have noticed a LOT of support for it on here. Certainly semi finals unless it comes up against another big hitter prior.
