Be careful when you fight the monsters, lest you become one. - Nietzsche

Couldn't agree more. Problem is, the monsters are loose across the middle east. We set them free. Now we have to put them back in their box.

Like all alliances, they break down sooner or later, just because at one time we utilised, nay encouraged the Jihadi groups, in different times......doesn't mean we are responsible for the extreme nature and objectives that characterise them now..... they need to be stopped, its that simple.

According to several sources the ISIS assault on Baghdad has begun, reports earlier this evening that control of the Iraq army may have been handed over to Iran to aid in the defence of the capital.

Oh dear god. What a godawful mess. This is going to be epic.

Drone Armageddon on the way.......simple stand off missions, it won't end the wider issues, but it will tear a hole in their currently unopposed slaughter objectives.

History says that Muslims, when grouped together like this, can be a relentless enemy. They only lack a leader like the Mhadi or Saladin. If one of them comes forward to unite them under the black flag of Jihad then we've got an issue.

Who is leading ISIS anyway?

don't care what anyone says, in this country we just don't know what is extreme or what is moderate anymore. They will eventually become one, and the only reason for example we are seeing this sort of thinking appearing in our own schools is because our governments have allowed too many people in to our country. When Cameron says people need to be more British, what he is really saying is that we don't have things under control. When you bend over backwards accommodating other peoples religions and culture in favour of our own in the way that we have, the end result will be that everyone will have to change, may be not now but in 20 - 30 years time I can see the UK being a very different place. Religion is worse than politics, I think we can see that from what has and what is going on in other countries, its not very good, and not what our politicians have sold us.

If America involves itself, then it will be the biggest recruiting ad for Sunni fundamentalistss possible. Despite them having considerable responsibility for this mess, they really need to leave it to Iraq and regional powers.

100% this. We've got thousands of these fundamentalists in waiting dotted around the country. If it ever came to a major conflict between ideals and values I know which side they'd be on.

in hindsight we should have left Sadaam in power.......better the devil you know.

at least we knew roughly give or take the odd thousand or so how many people he murdered and tortured and roughly sort of gave a crap how many children his minions raped and sold into prostitution.......

Yes. But he violated the oil...sorry..sovereignty of Kuwait. How are Americans going to go on driving Enormous cars if every despot in the middle east goes around pinching the sovereignty of Shell and BP?

The one to watch is Saudi. If this business expands into a regional secular bloodbath then the USA will deploy every asset they've got. So will we.

You are forgetting the greens,if only they can get their message out now and rapidly, build some solar panels and windmills then we can tell Saudi to do one!
There will be then no need to go to war ever on oil.

i think my pet unicorn just shat a rainbow!

Agree on your statement. This country used go together like a Cheese & Pickle sandwich, now like a lot of people I feel like it is resembling a Peanut Butter & Pickle sandwich.
How do you make someone more British when their own culture and religion is different, you can't.

Iran is more than capable, and as they are ISIS's target after Iraq and Syria, they might as well get involved early.
Im really not surprised by mass executions by ISIS against govt troops...they have shown from the off, that they are not taking prisoners, and just
executing them out of hand....particularly if Shia...its a shia /sunni thing...its up to them, and the people in the region to sort out.

Sunni consider Shia a modern cult, and not true believers etc...... just another prophet.
ISIS have been executing Shia's for fun for the last year or so....they dont take prisoners.
