Dont take it so seriously mate. I am just laughing at the dramatic MINIMUM REQUIREMENT! statements and using words like 'survival'. Its all very daily mail house prices sort of conversation. It is not 'survival' by any stretch. unless you consider having a nice life in lewes and a decent motor survival.
yeah i know what you mean and it's all reletive....people who live in a one bedroom flat would need far less to "survive" and people in a council house probably less.
I think the word "survive" is also a bit harsh. It's more than likely meant as "keep your heads above water"....enjoying a fairly reasonable living standard but not having the flash car, posh holidays etc etc
I just based my above comments on the fact that he had a £1,000 rent and that almost wipes out one salary. A combined salary of £40k therefore is probably a "minimum requirement" to keep themselves in the black.
