I've been using it on one of my computers and I f***ing hate it. Am I doing something wrong? I can't get most of the software I want to use on it because they are all exe files. It sucks.

Its Linux, meaning that Windows software isn't going to run (without the use of a thing called WINE, many hours and some magic incantations).

If you want to run Windows applications, use Windows.

But where do I find all this magical Linux software that is the equivalent of Photoshop, Avid, Dreamweaver...?

It doesn't exist. You can sometimes cause yourself great pain and injury and manage to get along with alternatives:

The GIMP has most of Photoshop's features laid out in a manner by which no Photoshop user can find them.

Cinerella might do the job of Avid, maybe. Its an industrial style application, where industrial means victorian industry; I believe it needs to be coal fired... but has been used in "proper" movies.

There is no direct replacement for Dreamweaver.

There is very little point in using Linux for photoediting and the like, that's what Mac's are for.

Linux can hold its own for most office apps and internet browsing these days but the likes of GIMP are NOT serious competition for Photoshop et al

Very true. I have been using Ubuntu for the last 4 months now, and still happily using Dreamweaver and Photoshop as well. I don't miss Windows either. Even after installing 100's of packages, Ubuntu is still running as fast as when I first installed it.
