Since being promoted from Premier League 2 Division Two to Division One, Albion U-23s have faced Manchester City four times. Their record is now:-

P:4 W:4 D:0 L:0 F:9 A:1

(including a 5-0 thrashing).

But congratulations to City on finally scoring a goal against us.

Based on the second half only, there's still something a bit Hughton-esque about the U23s to me - defending deep, retreating, allowing pressure, very little presence in the opposition half most of the time .....................

Still, a good win tonight - but I think they got away with it a bit!

Wonder how Yapi feels about the signing of Lamptey? Are they going to be competing for the RB spot in the next two seasons?

I don't think Yapi has been THAT close to the first team squad this season. It is worth remembering that it was Archie Davies who started against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup, not Yapi (who was only on the bench). Yapi has only become a consistent starter for the U-23s since Archie Davies got injured in the middle of November.

Lamptey has clearly been signed as an immediate member of the first team squad - he is way ahead of both Yapi and A. Davies currently.

Yes, to make space for another (ladies) pitch

Nope, they moved the U23 pitch to make space to extend the main building. Ladies pitch has nothing to do with U23 pitch moving as it's diagonally on the other end of the site.

Thanks. Are there pictures or plans of the new layout. Only being inquisitive
Here's how the training ground looked summer of 2019.

Here is my superbly crafted representation of the changes:

Red blob in top right corner is where they are building the new women's and girls changing rooms.

Red square in bottom right corner is land they have purchased and making into an additional pitch for the academy youngsters.

The sandy square in the bottom middle is now the U23 pitch. It was located directly above it previously (that blue line is the stand roof). It has been moved down and rotated 90 degrees (so runs parallel with the railway line now). The indoor pitch (dome, the big white square) has been moved down to where the U23 pitch was previously. Finally the wing of the main building is being extended down onto where the dome was to create more office, academy teaching space and gym space. Those moves are represented by the red arrows.

Thanks for that 👍👍

So the club didn't buy a football pitch sized plot of land that would have squared off the whole complex.

#WouldHaveDrivenMeCra-Cra.

There was a stable/barn there and think the owner only just sold up as IKEA and 400 houses are coming. Bit hard to buy if it isn't for sale!

I'd rather have had a protracted 20 year stand off than go ahead with plans that have the corner cut off.
