deja vu from last saturday
Is this pitch grass with a higher than usual artificial mix?
Commentator talking about drainage in this rain and I can't see any black bits flying up like on a 4g pitch. But it's not cutting up at all.
Edit: can see mud on some socks.
Definitely grass but not sure of the artificial mix. Was only laid/made a few years ago (3?) so will have good drainage.
Winder what the formation will be? Does that line up indicate that Packham is playing at LB and Furlong moves up into midfield? Maybe:
McGill
Offiah Tsongui Turns Packham
Leonard Spong Furlong
Moran
Tolaj Ferguson
......... or maybe Moran dropping back to make a 4-4-2. I do sometimes wonder why the U23s don't pay 3 at the back, with wingbacks, like the first team usually do - I'd've thought that would be a natural progression sort of thing to do. Obviously, the people in charge know what they're doing, and why - but it would be interesting if any NSCers had any theories. Anyway, hoping for a cracking win tonight - as we may not be so happy this time tomorrow!
Crofts talked about this in an interview a few months ago. He said that because the first team have to be adaptable in formation there's no point asking u23's to be in positions they are less comfortable with. The important thing was the playing style rather than the set up formation-wise.
