Meanwhile back in the real world, the Bush/B.Liar Axis Of Oil Prices once again makes the world an even more dangerous place to live than it was before they picked a bar-room-bully style fight ('you lookin at my bird, mate') with Saddam Hussein. If you happen to be on the receiving end of an ampoule of osmium tetroxide at Gatwick or Bluewater or London Victoria - and I sincerely pray to the god of your choice that you never are - then the two guilty men up top of this thread are the war criminals you might want to think about bringing to justice.

Two court cases you might have missed in the past week:

(from The Times)
'Colonel Tim Collins, known for his rousing speech to British troops on the eve of war in Iraq, today won substantial libel damages and costs against two national newspapers. The Northern Ireland army officer won his case against the Sunday Express and Sunday Mirror at the High Court in Belfast this morning. The level of damages was not disclosed. Belfast-born Colonel Collins, 43, was widely praised, including by Prince Charles, when he told his soldiers: "If you are ferocious in battle remember to be magnanimous in victory." He was recently awarded an OBE, after being cleared of alleged war crimes.
During the case the newspapers had to withdraw allegations that the officer had been linked to war crimes including the murder of an Iraqi prisoner.

(from the BBC)
MP George Galloway has accepted damages and a public apology over an American newspaper article that alleged he accepted money from Saddam Hussein. Mr Galloway, expelled by Labour for his stance on the Iraq war, said he had been "completely vindicated". The Christian Science Monitor admitted a set of documents upon which it based its story were "almost certainly" fake. The MP, who described the settlement as "substantial", has always denied taking cash from the Iraqi regime.

George is suing the Daily telegraph for the same story. He'll win that one too. as predicted by the conspiracy theorists on this very board ONE YEAR AGO. Well, to be strictly honest, it was predicted he'd win the case or die in a mysterious car crash. Still, give it time, eh?

Wonder if NSC will have the balls to promote any of the anti-war threads of this time last year to NSC Gold? Cos that's where they belong. Or would it deeply embarrass a lot of otherwise sane people caught up in the biggest organised oil scam in Christendom? Said it a year ago, say it again: 'Ever Get The Feeling You've Been Had'

It looks like a bloody mess now to say the least and Tony Blair has blood on his hands.

Trouble is the alliance are in too deep so how do they get out of this one ?

Are we to continue to send our troops to an imminent death in a volatile country.

I never felt comfortable with this war from the word go as soon as the first raids went out - it's all coming home to roost for a few World Leaders.

Well, on that basis we would all be speaking German now.

Think before you speak, imminent death, what a crock of shit.

Yeah, fantastic argument, everyone's clearly forgotten how Saddam Hussain invaded Poland.

Jeezus, it's Looney without the jokes.

Has anyone noticed how the Americans are acting very similarly to the Israelies. Its all helicopter gunships and laser guided missiles. They are like a faceless enemy.
They seem very reactionary, when a few Americans are killed, they bomb a whole town or in this case a mosque.
It will only get worse, unless they get on the ground and interact with the people.
Very sad and scary situation.

The worst case scenario that many predicted this time last year is starting to come true. The phoney war by the phoney unelected President and his obedient poodle Bliar, is turning into a nightmare even worse than expected. With so many different factions in Iraq, any fool could have predicted this outcome. Then again, George Bush is an exceptional fool! The mental nature of the Americans is to bomb and bully the insurgents. They will dig themselves deeper into the mire, with the eventual outcome being a humiliating withdrawal Vietnam style, after public pressure from the U.S. electorate to "bring our boys home". Maybe that same electorate will show the good sense to boot the Texas twat into the dustbin of history this coming November? Sadly, sense and the average American don't always go together!

You're at it again aren't you ? There's a hell of a lot of US citizens who don't want Bush in power, just like we don't trust Blair. Seems to me that if you're anything to go by then a whole lot of British people don't have common sense as their strongest suit.

Its like a line of dominoes falling down but I strongly believe the person responsible for the first domino falling down is Osama Bin Laden.

The temptation must be very strong to pull all the troops out of Iraq for the USA and UK as how can you hand control over to a bunch of uncivilised fanatics. I am sick and tired of seeing dubious looking Iraqi men with nothing better in their lives than to rebel against the people who have liberated them.

After 30 years of not being able to use the toilet with asking Hussein's permission it must be great to be able to roam the streets and take the odd pop shot at a troop.

You just can't help some people. If they want to live like animals let them get on with it.

I know I'll get flamed for this but Its how I feel.

Its son easy isn't it to take pops at George Bush but what would your response have been to 9/11. How could anyone ever imagine that 4 jumbo jets with innocent civilians be flown into 2 tower blocks over 1200 feet high killing 3000 innocent civilians from over 80 countries ( including muslims ).

He had more on his plate than any US president in history.

Now in my opinion the 9/11 attacks were totally unprovoked and as such these stupid little men with warped ideas of martyrdom and sleeping with 20 virgins decided to set fire to the sleeping Lions tail.

Its inevitable there was going to be severe retribution, firstly with Afghansitan kicking out the Taliban ( no bad thing ) and then moving onto Iraq, kicking out Hussein ( no bad thing ).

Its easy to have a pop but noone yet has given me a sensible or practical response to " If you were George Bush on 10th September 2001 what would you have done ? ".

If I were George Bush after 9/11 to answer your question Gareth, I too would've invaded Afganistan.
I would've then sat down with all the leaders of the middle east / Israel and tried to sort out the Palestinian problem. I don't think invading Iraq has solved anything. What did Saddam have to do with 9/11?

Why is it that people who were so Pro War like you Gareth can never admit you were wrong.

No WMD

Country on the Brink of Civil War

The Infrastructure totally destroyed

The so called liberated Shias now fighting the Allies, so we go in with gunships and blow them to smithereens.

The Allies with no clue what to do next except try and get out as quick as possible, leaving a vacuum and breeding ground for the next 100 years worth of terrorists.

What a total shambles, and Gareth, knock knock mate, when will you realise that there was NO link between 9/11 and Iraq so you can hardly say thats why Bush went to war with Saddam.

We are doing Al Quedas work for them with style, just about any muslim with slightly fanatical tendancies will look at whats going on and be more than up for the cause.

It really does amuse me how so many people can bury their heads in the sand, Tom is right as were so many of us last year when we said this would all end in disaster, and hey presto!

I find it all very sad and depressing, but I seriously think Mr Bush and wanker Blair have seriously f***ed this world up for many generations to come.

I'd have looked to who committed the atrocity and taken sevre action. I would not have run around delibrately trying to find any link to Iraq just to get rid of an old enemy, that should have been got rid of in 1991.

The Sunday Times ran an article on the bloke who has written a book about his experience in the White House during and after 9/11 and it was fascinating to learn just how much Bush wanted it to be Iraq. He was a man obsessed with achieving that which his father bottled (and led to the abandonment and needless slaughter of 10,000 who he had promised to supoort).

I agree with the Senator who spoke yesterday to say it was the new Vietnam. Granted there are major differences ibn the domain of the conflict, but it is scaling out of control, just like Vietnam.

I am not anti-USA, but I am anti power hungry morons who put obsession before the good of people.

sort of agree with your thoughts Albion Dan - my problem is - what sort of response should Bush have given to Sept 11?? (just to change the subject a little) I don't know myself what the right response would be - just interested to know what people think... I can't believe that is wasn't somehow linked to Iraq - its the same monster with a different head so to speak I think...

No the people who completely played into their hands following that attrocity are equally to blame! Or maybe its the people who funded Bin Laden years before, the good old US of A?
