The landrover 'snatch' was designed to withstand petrol bombs and nail bombs not high explosive roadside bombs. Why we are still stuck with them in active service is scandelous. I guess it all comes down to £££'s

Having just spent 7 months in Afganistan, and a lot of time travelling in a "snatch" Landrover,i can confirm that IMO the kit issues arenowhere near as bad as the media love to make out.
I would almost go as far as to say the kit i was issued was good, and miles better that stuff i had in Iraq a few years ago,so that shows its improving.

Vehicles however are still a bit of an issue, which i guess is what this guy's talking about. There are however some very good vehicles being used by HM Forces in Afganistan, there just are'nt enough of them yet. They ARE being built and every couple of weeks while i was out there we got given a few new vehicles and some old ones taken away.....go give the govenment a break.....they ARE doing something about it.

Good to hear the first hand point of view from someone who's been there. The media do like to shit stir big time on these things, the number of times the subject crops up in the news and inevitable coroners inquests after deaths there is obviously some truth behind it.

Great to hear about these things first hand, and I would give this guys quotes about the 4 that died in the "snatch landrover" some respect had they been made immediately after the event.
I have a cousin who was in Aden during the trouble there and his best mate died there and it affected him greatly .............things don't change much do they.
we should all have respect for our lads fighting abroad...even if we don't agree with the conflict
