Who can remember going to the Odeon when you had to go up the stairs?

I can! I used to go to the odeon when at college, and none of the people I went with remembered those steps and the escalator. They though I was making it up!

I do remember that, used those stairs the first time I ever went to the cinema, was for a friends birthday party and we saw Labrynth. And it scared the crap out of me, then we went to Wimpy for dinner!!!!

Life was simple back then.

I still really enjoy the DOY, especially with my membership, only £7 a ticket and a pint at just over £3 with the discount, it's just a pleasant place to spend a couple of hours and it seems to be busier than ever these days. Looking forward to seeing what they have done at the Komedia.

The Duke of Yorks is generally good fun, but no good for the big budget noisy films. The acoustics in there aren't that great.

Unless it's just my hearing... :(

Correctamundo. Its ok for boy and a baguette filmed in B&W where two people speaking French (but with english subtitles) discuss ham and smoke in a cafe. A metaphor for someone finding their life after being in the wilderness. Girl cries. FIN.

But god help anyone who sees skyfall there.

Some things have moved on forever, a film we were about to watch was cancelled the other week at the DOY's because the file was corrupt.

Someone else mentioned the other day that the Crawley cinema now has an IMAX screen, does anyone know how much a viewing costs there.

About £15.00 with cineworld card its 4.50 to upgrade.

I totally agree, especially the big special-effects extravaganzas. But sod the current 3D gimmick, I still think its high time we got proper HD in our cinemas.

Easy may I recommend Crawley. Its absolutely the dogs. Saw the latest Batman there and it was crystal clear and that WASNT even the IMAX.

Sorry but DOY, Marina and Odeon dont even compare AT ALL with the Crawley Cineworld as far as sound and picture are concerned.

Yes indeed saw all the STAR WARS there and also the Nicholas Hammond Spidermans, I remember the escalators also used to freeze up.

Anyone remember the ABC, then Cannon in East Street? Now the all you can eat chinese (I think) and the casino saw Superman the movie there and probably the Spy Who Loved me.

I MUCH preferred that ABC, to the Odeon.

I'll probably have a mince along to see the new Bond film at some point.
I, on the other hand, will be marauding along like a slathering rabid goon throwing women and children behind me.

B&H needs more cinemas, I can't think of any other city that has so few screens. In fact the Brighton - Worthing stretch is a bit of cinematic desert...

There used to be one in Lancing - the Luxor, but that closed down many moons back. If I won the Euromillions I'd quite like to buy it and renovate it.

Quality reporting from the Argus. Story posted on the 14th saying John Lewis lined up for the development yet on the 13th there is a statement posted on the site linked in the article saying they are not going to take a unit

Or as it's now known, the uxor, as the letter L has all but fallen off...:lolol:

Always look out for it when passing through Lancing on a train...
