I thought he said they'd try to get 4 or 5 in by the weekend, I could be wrong though.

Albion hope to have two more loan signings on board for Saturday’s key trip to relegation rivals Leyton Orient.

That will raise the number to the maximum five permitted in the matchday squad following the captures of Al Bangura, Lloyd Owusu and Matt Heath.

The Seagulls will still be without ten injured players, plus suspended duo Dean Cox and Adam Virgo, against Orient.

A new manager should be in place by then but, in the meantime, caretaker Dean White is planning more business.

He said: “That is not the end of it. We are looking to bring more players in. We are determined to stay in this league. That is paramount with the new stadium coming.”

Bangura has been drafted in from Watford to do a similar job to fellow loan signing Therry Racon last season.

White said: “I have seen him a few times and I like him. He is your stereotypical holding midfield player.

“He is strong in the tackle, energetic, can pass the ball and punches above his weight. He wanted to come and play first team football for us and that is really important in the predicament we are in at the moment. He has showed a great desire to be here.”

White is also delighted to have landed Owusu and Heath. “The bonus with Lloyd is that he has been playing regularly at our level. He has scored nine goals in 25 appearances (for Cheltenham) and he is different to what we’ve got, a target man who gets hold of the ball and offers a physical presence.

“Matt will be the experienced centre half we haven’t had at times this season. He has masses of experience in the Championship with big clubs. He is at a good age and he is a dominating centre half.”

Why does everyone keep talkign about Flinders. Granted I think he's the best keeper we've had in some time but isn't he up in Scotland at the mo?

We've certainly signed a lot of players this season. I hope this isn't sheer desperation by the board to keep us up, as even with great new signings we will still have a good chance of going down. We've signed players that look really good so many times this season, only to see them fail to change the team's fortune time and again.

That has to be a joke, right?

For the 2006/07 season:

Kuipers:
Played: 19 ... won 9 ... lost 6 ... drawn 4 ...... win rate: 47.37%

Henderson:
Played: 25 ... won 9 ... lost 13 ... drawn 3 ...... win rate: 36% (Goes up to 40% if you include the millwall penalty shoot out as a win instead of a draw)

Flinders:
Played: 12 ... won 2 ... lost 6 ... drawn 4 ...... win rate: 16.67%

Assuming that Kuipers' injury is longer term than a week or so it would make sense to cover the goalkeeping position. What will be interesting is whether the cover becomes automatic first choice and if so, how Sullivan responds.

Presumably the other is a left back. Don't know if he would want to come back again but Richards would be the easiest and possibly safest choice because of his familiarity with the club - I don't think anyone accused him of not trying/not having balls?

According to Wiki (!), McFlinders was at Falkirk on loan until January, but returned to our good chums up in Gnawed-wood.

A buck up golie for Sully would make sense if kuipers injury is long-term. I think Sully may well benefit from a few games at the moment.

One thing I wonder about keepers, is how you can judge them. Somebody above has mentioned win percentages - but surely keeping goals out has as much to do with the defence as it has to do with the keeper. It would be interested to see the ratio of shots saved per shot on target for the keepers. That would give an indication of their shot-stopping if nothing else.

So a new manager in place by Saturday,Dean White bringing in new players before then. What happens if the new players DW brings in are not rated by our potential new manager?Could be an excuse for not taking the job.
I think that these 3 players are decent acqusitions for any L1 team and with our current injury crisis, WHOEVER comes in as manager will be more than happy with them.

I expect us to get a left back (Matt Richards probably). Maybe a keeper, maybe a winger.
