Two minutes silence

I was in my car coming back from a meeting, as 11 approached I turned off the radio and fell silent as I drove. It does appear however that my sat nav has no respect.

Ironicaly that is why the people we are remebering sadly died, so fair point Magoo

Indeed. I also get annoyed at people not observing the silence but we cannot get dictatorial about it and start bullying people into doing it for the wrong reasons, which is what is starting to happen nowadays.

The guy fitting my wardrobe had the radio on in my bedroom - he stopped working - just made him a coffee and he's been telling me that his nephew has just two weeks gone out to afghanistan so he said that although it's not the same he stood and just hope he comes back safe x

Too high and mighty because it can do a job most people's wife can't!

Forgot all about it - blundered into the gyratory Sainsburys wondering why so many people were standing silent and motionless outside. Only when I got inside and saw all the staff lined up with their heads hung did the poppy drop. Great effort by Sainsburys, poor effort by me. Maybe next year.

No need to wait till next year, Sunday at 11.

I was off school today, as I was sitting in my bed with a horrific stomach ache I did have a few minutes to my self in complete silence, thinking of the fear and danger those men went through and all men who have died so that we have the freedom to go to matches at the wonderful Amex stadium.

Captured a pic of my clock when it said 11:11 11/11/2011 as well!

A very nicely put post from a schoolboy.

Very well done young man, you are a credit to your generation.

brighton, actually
Was in a gym before heading back to work. Fully expected a message over the tannoy or the music to stop. NOTHING.

There was about 4 of us (didnt know each other) but all fell silent for 11.

Other people were talking and still CLATTERING weights around.

Quite annoyed me, actually.

magoo its called respect, and before you start bad mouthing ppl you might like to know Tracy is my sister, and as i am a former soldier who has lost good friends in various conflicts i think all she wanted was to be able to remember members of our family and friends of mine who gave their lives so you have the freedom to stick your ore in where its not wanted

We took part in it at the nursery with a sandtimer. The children were great with it.

Just to go slightly off topic did you know that at Marcel Marceau's funeral they held a minute's noise.
