I don't know for sure but I would assume that the 'transfer budget' does not just reflect fees but also wages. Joey Barton on a free might just mean the saving on the fee is contributing substantially to his wages!!!!!

our top earner is on 9 grand a week

You know this how?

For what it's worth I've heard it said its a bit more than that, not a lot, but still more than Glenn went to Palace for, then again, I don't know how the person who told me that knows either. One thing I know for sure, only my boss, our payroll clerk and my wife know what I earn. Quite why anyone would know what one of our players is earning is beyond me, we're not talking premier league superstars with an agenda here.

but quite rightly (if belatedly) the club are damping down expectation.

I'd say 'belatedly' is a little unfair. It was mentioned before the window open that there wouldn't be any big signings like in the summer, it's always been clear Gus and Tony don't like doing business in the january window.

I dont care whether we bring in loans/ free signings or players costing whatever TB can afford as long as we have a better 2nd half of the season that the latter part of the first.

I have to ask again, how do you know this? I dont see how anyone in the club would risk their position by giving this information out.

There are rules? Sorry, but if you cant explain your reasoning, after making a statement of fact on here, then I don't see why you should expect anyone to believe you any more than those who say CMS is in £15k a week. Personally, I have only comments from people like you, and others, to use as a benchmark, and to be fair, I have no reason to believe you, or them, including a close friend of mine who is a friend of a couple of the players, because I simply do not believe that information is in the public domain. I talk to an Albion director ofen, he never discusses numbers ( quite correctly), but he does say that there are current Albion players on a higher deal than Glenn went to Palace for, because the club didn't think Glenn was worth what he was asking for, but that other players were. This is not new information I know, this has been mentioned before, so whatever people think Glenn is on, then we have players on more.

our top earner is on 9 grand a week, sopretty strict, and thats the problem, willallchange next year if we stay in this league

Anyone who thinks CMS is on £9k a week after turning down West Ham and Leicester where he could have easily got £25k+ a week is quite frankly a total fool....Yes he may have been sold a dream, but he is not a f***ing idiot.

lets be honest, no one has a frigging clue how much money we have to play with or what targets we are looking at. Including Naylor

They have already said money is available to strengthen, BUT not in the price range spent on cms.. It all depends on the RIGHT players being available.. We all know what positions, the only question is WHO not if..

This, there really are some ridiculous statements on this thread why would Gus or Tony divulge their budget to a local hack and how do any of you know how much any of our players earn.

dont forget the 300k for cook and money saved on pokes wages

I doubt that the money saved on Poke and Cooks wages will go very far towards the wages of somebody coming in of the required standard but coupled with the £170k estimated fee for Cook that could help out but over the remainder of the season would not be alot. The total would equal out to be about £12k per week if we spent it all.
