A pet owner from the West Midlands who killed his dog by putting it in a washing machine has been jailed for four months.

Andrew Glazzard, 41, Dudley, put the Staffordshire Terrier/Labrador cross breed, Maisie, in the machine after it fouled the floor of his home.

Halesowen Magistrates' Court heard he was drunk at the time and put the dead dog in a bag then threw it in a river.

Glazzard, of Falcon Way, admitted causing unnecessary suffering.

He told police he put the animal in the machine for a few seconds to teach her a lesson.

When she came out she was wagging her tail, so he said he put her back in, switched the machine on and fell asleep.

When he awoke the dog was dead. He put the body in a bag and dumped in the River Stour.

Police photographs taken in Glazzard's kitchen, in Lye in Stourbridge, show bite marks made by Maisie in the drum of the machine.

4 months, until the law values the lives of fellow creatures more this sort of think will carry on, should have been 4 years at least

Scum.

Altho for some reason i have more sympathy for suffering dogs than suffering people. I guess I just don't like people very much. For reasons like this.

I think its just the thought that for animals they have absolutley NO CLUE what is going on and NO WAY to stop it. It'll never happen but i'd love it if we could just do exactly what these people did to the poor animals right back to them. I'd happily dish out the punsihment!

It has reminded me of a story last year. A man's advances were shunned, so he put the owners (the lady in question) kitten in the microwave and burnt it alive. :nono: I can't remember whether he got a custodial sentence, I bloody hope so!

If he gets found out in prison his stay will be very unpleasant, he'll be treated like a child molester.

Did you know that if you put ants in the microwave they can survive because they can move to areas where the oscillating waves do not reach.

They do not taste nice raw though.

My cat once crept into the tumble drier to sleep on the warm towels. Was I tempted, just to teach her a lesson

For me ithe hurt is that the animals generally are abused by the people they trust the most.

A few months ago many on here were laughing at a thread advocating punching cats.

The world's a nasty place.

As some of you might know I have been in cat welfare for a long time and could fill this forum with toe curling stories of abuse to all sorts of animals and in all that time I have never become blas'e about animal abuse,it still sickens me to the core and if any person is capable of animal abuse what else are they capable of.

how can you get so worked up about cruelty to animals? if you feel the same about murderers and rapists then fine but lets have a bit of perspective please.

Isn't anyone else wondering how on earth the dog managed to bite the inside of a washing machine? What's to bite??

Some of them do. The live lemon ants I had in Ecuador were rather good. Quite tangy as the name suggests.

They tickle a bit unless you crunch them up on the way in though.

Many people are not Philanthropists and value Animal welfare more higher than Human welfare. Humans are the architects of their own cruelty and misery animals who are abused by humans have no choice
