I caught him briefly on Radio 5 this morning and the guy is a total ****. When it was put to him people were being priced out of the game he basically said most single men without family earning average wage can afford to go....but others ie father and son have to make a choice.

It's sad what "English" football has become and this is another step I will take away from the game.

Although a lot of the money now comes from abroad, if people really do dislike Murdoch and Sky, the only thing to do is not give them any money.

I keep seeing this - and something like it has been said for at least the last 10 years. There's little sign of it happening: one of the reasons that the money increased so much was that Sky and BT were under pressure from two other bidders, a US one and a Qatari. Next time round, there'll probably be more Middle East interest and maybe some Chinese and Indian one too.

Why? Because every time the issue of a Sky boycott is raised on here, the thread is full of people saying they're not happy to pay the increased costs but will keep on doing it. If people are happy to pay, the bids will keep on coming in.

We should all treasure this rare moment of openness and honesty from big business. We won't see such as like very often in our lifetimes!

The PL was established to safeguard and strengthen the biggest clubs in this country. To this end it has succeeded. It is elitist and self-centred. It looks after its own. It has little or no interest in the pyramid below it. The rest of us are surviving on scraps thrown from the table.
It encourages the armchair fan to throw his/her weight behind one of the top clubs. It doesn't unite football, it divides it.

The whole Premier League marketing machine just spouts such relentless shite all the time, that we hardly notice half of the nonsense they come out with.

The piece of self-deluded shite that got me was when Scudamore referred to the Premier League as "having the BEST players in the World" and no-one (apologies if picked up elsewhere on NSC) batted an eyelid or questioned him on which clubs had just signed, Messi, and Ronaldo, not to mention Neymar, Ibrahimovic, Bale, James Rodriguez, Muller and Robben.

Yes, we have a few very good players over here, but the vast majority hit their peak and head away from these shores.

It's like the "best league in the World" shite, they just spout this nonsense without anyone ever challenging by what measure they make that claim. The best "marketing" of any league in the World, yeah, I'll give them that, but that it's what they are trying to tell us.

The whole thing just makes my blood run cold. Enormous money at the top, and what does it mean for fans? That they can afford to reduce ticket prices? Yes they can, and no they won't. Players, managers, agents and senior staff at clubs will earn phenomenal money, and we'll all end up paying for it. Modern football, please let it all explode soon.
