Easy. Because Sky manage to get 4 live games on TV - at a time when vast majority of people will be at home and probably making the most of their expensive TV subscriptions, which the Premier League & Brighton & Hove Albion get heavily compensated for.

I understand that, and to an extent I could see this would make sense IF it were a Big Game, with a world wide TV audience but lets be honest who other than Brighton and Brentford fans are going to be tuning in. By Boxing Day this will almost certainly be a mid table clash, of two relatively small clubs with relatively small fan bases.

If it were a big six clash, then it would get a good sized audience, but we are kidding ourselves if we think any one outside our two respective local areas will give a toss.

Not only will this have a small physical attendance, the TV audience will be miniscule, advertisers wont be wanting to spend mega bucks for a game no one is watching

Seems a strange choice for the late game on Boxing day

8pm is not a good slot - Asia has one of the highest TV viewing figures and 8pm means its middle of the night for them. So really it is Europe + Yanks. And this is the days fixtures. They tend not to have 'big' games on Boxing day due to all the hassle that can go wit it

12:30 Liverpool v Leeds
12:30 Wolves v Watford
Burnley v Everton
Man City v Leicester
Norwich v Arsenal
Spurs v Crystal Palace
West Ham v Southampton
17:30 Aston Villa v Chelsea
20:00 Brighton v Brentford

My seat will be empty.

Not sure they’ll acknowledge it, and I know it’s been mentioned plently but bears repeating - the club have really ****ed up with the new policy re: ST transfers.

I have helped lead 5/6 others to become STHs through sharing tickets previously. 5/6 revenue streams. I don’t see any more getting added on the current basis.

Such blinkered thinking.

F***ing wonderful!! Was looking forward to taking my grandson to the Brentford game at a decent time - not sodding 8.00 pm on Boxing Day with absolutely no public transport available after the game. Oh, wait a minute, I can use Santa’s sleigh, he won’t need it for another year and I can park it up in Bennett’s Field and the reindeer can munch on the left over veg from the farm shop.

Oh I know I'll be "there" as far as the club is concerned - I'll be a proud member of the official pretendance that night.

I appreciate its not BHA's fault that Sky have gone and dealt us this steaming great shit sandwich for Boxing Day, but the fact they've made it all but impossible to pass on tickets means there will be swathes and swathes of empty seats, which will look embarrassing.

My lad will probably still go, as he has far higher tolerance levels than I have these days, and will doubtless meet up with his mates in town around either side of the game. My ticket would have been passed on to one of them to take up for this game, but not any more.

As someone else mentioned, I think this will be by far the lowest actual attendance at the Amex since we got promoted. What a shame.

How can we make it clear to PB that the season ticket transfer thing is a shambles.

I've missed two games this season and could easily have shared my season ticket. But it's just too much agro for people and too much friction. It feels like a lost opportunity to engage floating football fans with the Albion at the Amex as Mellotron said.

Nope, only 3. Liverpool v Leeds is on BT at 12.30. There’s 5 games at 3pm

I think they can show a 3pm game on Boxing Day as it's not a Saturday. Surely someone has picked up City v Leicester?

It's a disappointing kick off time, I wouldn't be going in any case but I wouldn't get back to Lyme until well after midnight and we've got Polly and Giles coming over. WIll still be an audience in excess of 30,000 though I think.

Stop whinging you bunch of old whinging people…… It’s the Premier League…… It’s the price we pay….. it’s worth it at the moment. It’s not about the travelling fans ffs.

I don’t agree here nick. A lot of people will have just taken the mother in law home at 7-30 so the thought of relaxing on the sofa, farting and watching a match is highly appealing….. all round the country.

Goody gumdrops! I’ve just been on the Trainline site to find out about trains to Brighton from East Croydon for our Boxing Day evening knees-up. I tried the Southern site but they can’t be arsed to cough up any info. Apparently the nearest time to my requested travel requirements (i.e. to get to the Amex and back from E.C.) is 04.52 on Monday morning. Marvellous!

So, no trains available. Will there be a bus service from Lewes or centre of Brighton, will there be a P&R system in operation. If the answer is no what is the point of actually attending this match?

Nothing about football in the upper reaches is about fans. It's all about money - the money Sky and co are prepared the host club for televising their game. Rumour is that Sky pay £1,000,000 to the host Club, which is probably a helluva lot more than the Club would get with a full capacity crowd

Surely, surely public transport will have to be arranged for post game? Otherwise the whole thing will be a complete farce!

Starting to think an official boycott is a good idea to be honest

We have had multiple games on Boxing Day at the Amex now including v Arsenal at 5.15pm a few years back.
The club spent ££ and laid on free coaches from Lewes to Falmer and elsewhere, arranged extra park and rides and there were bespoke trains from London to Brighton and back for the Arsenal fans (most of whom live in Brighton anyway). It wasn’t chaos or carnage and the ground wasn’t empty. Even Jurgen Locadia scored. Truly a Xmas miracle.

If the several other matches that have been on Boxing Day at the Amex are a precedent then yes there will be. Presumably the reason it’s taken em an extra week to negotiate these games etc is to plan for this stuff.

No chance, fully expect local buses to stop running around 6pm as they usually do on Boxing Day,
