The Championship.
My dad was a QPR fan, took me along, for years he maintained he could follow both as our paths didn't cross - eventually he discovered he had become an Albion fan when they did.

My dad has always been a QPR supporter and growing up been trying to get me to support them but was a Liverpool supporter. I have only been supporting the Albion for about 5 years now but I have been hooked ever since.

I've been a proud Brighton fan for 13 years now and I will always have an affection for this football club, with all that I've gone through with this team. Managers, players, stadiums! Next season will mark my 14th as a fan, in my 3rd new home ground! How many fans can say that of their club. I think there will come a time in my life where there are reasons to take up following another club, but I'll always have the Albion as my number 1 footballing love. You can't go through what I have to forget about it, or move on. But lives and situations change. If I end up with good reason to follow another club aswell, then I will. I have love for the game, more broadly than love for just one club.

Wasn't in to football until I moved schools. One of my friends there (Aldo in fact) got me in to football during break and lunch (passing and shooting, two teams one keeper or wembaly. Being shit, i prefered Passing and shooting or two teams. I was always out first round!) and he was a Liverpool fan with an interest in Brighton (and still is). So I followed Liverpool during Primary school but after during the promotion runs etc, I became more of an Albion supporter. Finally went to games in year 10, season ticket holder last season.

I cannot imagine life without the Albion and yet I remember a time where I was a liverpool fan.

I could have just said THIS but add a few years. And take out the QPR thing.

Yup, I don't come from Sussex and I supported Chelsea until I was about 12 or 13. The last live game I saw as a Chelsea fan was the 1972 League Cup final against Stoke. By that time I was pretty much a 100% Brighton fan and I remember thinking it would be brilliant for Brighton to get to Wembley. I also used to support Palace, but that was more to keep my Dad happy as Palace were the family team.

It's funny, like all normal decent people I obviously hate Chelsea with a passion now, but I can get all nostalgic if I see pictures of 'my' Chelsea, the players from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Ditto Palace from the Bert Head era.

A very good mate of mine was a STH at Chelsea and took his young son there regularly. His boy enjoyed it but his dad felt his boys interest was waning and felt this was because his boy never really connected with the team like his dad had in the old days at the old Stamford Bridge/Shed era. Anyway he took the lad to watch a game at Withdean about two seasons back i recall. His boy was thrilled to actually shake two players hands and talk with them! We lost the game and apparently it was a pretty crap day weather wise, but the seeds were sown that day and he and the boy get there regular now. I really liked hearing about how the lad (i think he about 10 now) felt part of the club so quickly thanks to the more personal touch.

It is common for people to regularly watch a club other than their favourite if they live a long way away. In my experience you either grow to hate them ( Man U, Watford) or to semi support them (Wealdstone, Man C). I was originally a Chelsea fan but switched in 1968, I had watched Albion since 1958 because my Grandmother lived down there, and then when my Dad moved to Worthing I stopped watching Chelsea altogether. I am going to change again at the end of this season and watch Wealdstone as I'm not as young and agile as I was, and I'm beginning to find the journey difficult. So here's one Priority 1, Gold Member who is not even buying a season ticket for himself, let alone the plus 3.

Me - I am a 'turncoat' but not really as others have said I now have a ST at Withdean as and I may lose a few of you here I was born and lived in Stoke until I was 15..... zzz Anyway I moved Darn Sarf and decided to watch my two new local teams - saw Pompey lose 1-0 to Bolton and Brighton played Stoke and lost 2-1 and thought may as well stick with the Potters but BHA were my second team and I've been brainwashed by Hiney (of this board) amongst others who I played football with for many years. My Wife's family lived in Goldstone Crescent and my Brother in Law and Nephew are both ST holders. Hoping we all get to sit together at Falmer next year.

Ta for getting this far ...

As my dad is a Man U fan I was bought up just supporting who he supported. When I was about 12 I began taking an interest in the Albion, went to a game and from then on have been hooked!

I do hope you'll make a game or 2 at Falmer.

You've earned that.

I don't think he's fishing at all, I think it's a valid point. I do think as a kid, especially someone born outside the area, you can be allowed a certain lassitude, but changing teams as an adult is a different kettle of fish. But then I would say that!

However I don't think you can watch any team for a period of time without developing a certain attachment. I certainly had no intention of becoming a Brighton fan, indeed I remember how mortified I was when 'we' (Chelsea) only drew 1-1 with Brighton in the FA Cup in 1967. But eventually going week in week out kinda brainwashed me ...

A few of you joked about me changing my allegiances to brighton but i am to old, a few of my dads mates changed there teams later in life.

Have you got any stories of people converting to Brighton?

:albion1::albion2::albion::ascarf::amex:

Got a mate who started supporting Palace when one of his mates played for them. His mates now left and he's been to a few Brighton games and saw the light and exorcised his demons by becoming 1901 member!
Let the defections begin. The lure of us in a top class stadium is obviously too strong to resist. And glad to see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
